iTunes 10.7.0.21
---------------------------
Problems after upgrade:
1) iTunes store crashes
2) videos or songs don't play
My OS: Microsoft Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit SP1
Solution (the only solution i found):
1) export your library.xml to somewhere safe (File>Library>Export Library) (if you want export your playlist)
2) use revo uninstaller to completely uninstall itunes (ensure that your itunes library is backedup somewhere safe)
3) ensure that itunes is removed from registry
4) uninstall anything related to iTunes; such as QuickTime, Bonjour, AppleTalk, etc...
5) reboot your system
6) fresh install of iTunes
7) import your library.xml (file>library>Import Library)
Total time : 5mins. (well for some it could take 30 at max).

This solution worked for me and it should work for everyone with the similar type of problem(s) with the similar type of OS. 🙂
Hope this helps!
This worked for me!!!! Only trick is you'll need to start the itunes a few times before it works.
1) after deleting the contents of the iTunes directory like you suggested
2) started itunes it crashed
3) started it again worked, when i clicked on iTunes store it crashed...
4) started it again and clicked on itunes store... then it worked..
i can confirm that itunes work, movies work, songs play, everyting is fine this far....
my problem was, after the upgrade, iTunes crashed when everytime i clicked on the 'Itune store
I am using Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit.
Im assuming that the directory got corrupt...? ....
Thanks cbmartella! 🙂
I didn't have a problem with the iTunes store crashing the program, but every time I tried to run video (podcast, imported .mp4, iTunes downloaded movie) after upgrading to iTunes 10.7.0.2 in Windows 7, iTunes crashed with vague "iTunes has stopped working" message.
This fixed things for me: https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-4221
Uncheck "enable Direct3D acceleration" in QuickTime.
Hope that works for you.
Hi All, I work in IT, and I've spent almost an entire day trying to uninstall, reinstall, work around etc.
as I experienced the similar issue, and not only that itunes wouldn't open, but also, I had a lot of trouble
trying to uninstall / reinstall.
Finally, I extracted the .msi files out from the itunes64setup.exe file to try to
delve a bit deeper into the root cause of the issue.
Right clicked on itunes64.msi.
Selected "Troubleshoot Compatibility".
You will never guess what came up next :-
"Issues Found - Incompatible Application Detected",
with the yellow triangle of death.
Methinks the latest version of iTunes has a bit of work to be done on it...
I seem to be having the same issue. I'm on Win 7 x64, iOS6 for iPad and iPhone 4S and itunes 10.7 (downloaded yesterday/today). I've tried unistalling and reinstalling all apple software on my PC and running iTunes in compatability mode (both Windows 7 mode and XP SP2 and SP3).
From what i can tell, it almost seems that even though the install if for 64 bit, its still only running as a 32 bit program but trying to call additonal memory (memory leak?). I have 8 Gb ram in my PC but itunes seems to cause it to peg out at the 3 Gb limit (32 bit windows memory limit). Unless i'm missing something or just didnt notice this before, task manager seems to confirm this as it lists the itunes process as itunes.exe *32.
It seems to start off the sync normally, but gets hung up when transfering purchases (apps that were updated on my iphone/ipad instead of through itunes). It appears that the download of the apps works but gets hung up when it's validating the file. The same thing happens when clicking "Update Apps".
I'm glad to see that it's not just me having this problem. Hope there's a patch coming soon.
Did you follow exactly what I wrote? You must be missing a step. Did you go through the reference of removing itunes and apple products from your system as the referenced site suggested?
I am 100% sure you are missing a step. I have now tested iTunes on win7 home, pro, ultimate and both 64bit and 32bit.
If it works for me it 'MUST' work for you, there's no magic solution for this other than following simple instructions.
If all fails, re-install windows and then install iTunes, and it should be functional (i have installed iTunes 10.7.0.21 on a fresh install as well) 🙂
Although, i don't understand --why-- older version would break after the update...
I haven't installed it yet, but I know Apple has been having server issues and many people on both Mac and PC have either not been able to download iTunes via software update or the web site or it just crashes. I would wait maybe a week after iOS 6 before updating anything to give the tech sites enough time to report a problem before it happens to you.
I'm having the same problem. I've updated to 10.7.0.21 and now I can't open iTunes. The default page is the iTunes store, but anytime I try to click the mouse on the Library or anything else, it just seems to crash faster. I'm not able to launch it at all.
If anyone finds a solution for this, please post it. Thanks!
PROBLEM : Exact same problem. iTunes 10.0.7.21 crashes when 'iTunes Store' is clicked on
OS : Microsoft Windows 7 Ultimate x64
TRIED :
a) uninstalled/reinstalled iTunes
b) uninstalled/reinstalled Quicktime
c) uninstalled Bonjour
d) installed itunes on another machine with 'Windows 7 Pro x64' and it WORKS!!!! WHYYYY!!!!!??? 🙂
SOLUTION : nothing yet!
Please advise...
So far wasted way too much time on this 😠
Uninstalled several times, re-installed
Situation is that if I reate a new user account itunes fires up straight away, if I use an existing account it wont launch at all. Clearly there must be a file that is causing a problem that i am not removing on uninstall, I have deleted all the Itunes library folders I can find.
Really starting to loose it now
Okay, I have confirmed that iOS 6 does indeed work just fine on 10.6.3 on my machine. I can't say that anyone else won't have issues, but compatibility doesn't seem to be a problem for me. All my devices sync, wifi sync, backup and restore perfectly under 10.6.3. I have tested this with an iPod Touch 4th gen, iPhone 4, and iPad 2, all updated to iOS 6. Hope this helps and/or provides some encouragement, at least until either Apple acknowledges the problems with 10.7 or simply fixes them--at least hopefully, anyway.
Thanks for verifying this, superiormac. It gave me the courage to test out my iPod touch to see if it would work for me.
I have 10.7 running on my win7 64 bit machine without issues, ANd installing 6.0 on my 4.
The problem is that itunes in general a a HUGE resource HOG. guess it was made to run well on Macs, NOT Windows . . .
I'm using Windows 7 Professional 64 bit and have just tried Khorem's method. Unfortunately, this doesn't help. Itunes simply doesn't start. I only saw the "SW Agreement Confirmation" and clicked "Agree". After that, absolutely nothing happens. :-(
Crap SW.
Thanks for the suggestion; unfortunately it doesn't solve the problem.
True, I get the "accept conditions"-window, and when I accept that, nothing happens:
ITunes simply doen't start. Nothing happens, no windows, no UI, nothing. However, it does produce a new iTunes-directory in the path C:\Users\"user name"\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\
Hmm, apparently I did not.
I have checked the reference site and used "Everything" to still locate some files etc.
There are some five "iTunes Labrary"-files that I can't remove however. They are located under c:\windows\csc\v2.0.6\namespace\username\my music. It seems that this is some stuf from my company's network server???
Besides that, I am quite convinced, that my PC is absolutely apple-free.
I still cannot run the newly installed iTunes. It gives me the "SW acceptance page" than nothing else happens.
Can this be due to the left files in the above mentioned directory??
After installing the new Itunes 10.7.0.21 update, I have the problem where I can not access the Store. I am on a Windows 7 64-bit OS. Everything worked great before this update. I don't know why I did it because the only other time I did an update for Itunes it caused a problem. I have tried a number of the solutions suggested in this thread. I did not try the one suggested by Khorem. Checked the page and saw a post that a person followed the directions and reinstalled and still could not access the store I have spent too much time on this. All I can say is Apple will not get any more of my money until this is fixed. I did nothing else to my computer but this update and that is when the problem started. So if this update was ok, I should not have a problem as the previous version worked fine. I will buy CDs and load them even though a 10 song CD now take 2.5 hours to import. No more purchases through Itunes. This could be the case with a number of windows 7 users if they can't access the store.
