Transfer photos from Mac book pro to iPad??

Step by step instructions ....

1. Connect the iPad to the Mac and launch iTunes.
2. Click on the iPad name on the left side under devices.
3. Click on the Photos Tab on the right.
4. Click on Sync Photos From heading
5. Select the folder/location that you want to sync the photos from - typically on a Mac it would be iPhoto
6. Click on all of the albums and events that you want to sync
7. Click on Apply in the lower right corner of iTunes

HI: I had 700 photos and also videos on my iphone 5s and wanted a really quick way to get these over to my iPad pro.

I went to Best Buy Squad Tec help (it was free advice) and wirelessly I did it.

He said use AirDrop! Below is a screen shot I took from Apple's website. This gives all the info you will need to see if your two devices can do it.(I got to that page via Apple/Support/the search field I typed "AIRDROP" and the support page it brought me to I chose *at the bottom of the paragraphs are links. https://support.apple.com//en-us/HT203106.

side note: there is some other transfer way involving the word "AirPlay" BUT that is a device you purchase!

Read thru the "AIRDROP" info and try it for free. I was surprised to find out it was already on my two devices so check yours first (logo is simple design, medium/light blue and round, design looks like "oldfashion radio air waves", look for the image in the screen shot below on my post.

anddddddd... I don't totally recall how it went, so I'll throw out what I can.

Both devices had wi-fi and blue tooth turned on, both had airdrop.

I then went to the photo source, my iPhone (did a small test first of only selecting a few photos, where you touch them (the photos) and a dot appears on the bottom right to show it is selected).

Then settings on ipad had to ?..?.say accept ?.. Sharing? Both devices were close to each other (not sure if that mattered).

Then on the "photo source" my phone I tapped the "AIRDROP" to initiate the sharing mode, which then triggered the iPad to respond with a mini window asking me if I wanted to accept the shared photos from the phone.

Simply touch yes and the transfer begins.

When I did the remaining hundreds of photos the transferred in less than a min. !]

BOTTOMLINE: Once I got over my panic of learning something so new, it was such a breeze! AND I love that it not only doesn't cost anything but I am not having to find more storage area for devices, even if it is a tiny flash drive.

I hope this helps someone 🙂 also type in your browser "AIRDROP" and a lot of other resources of directions,info and such will come up.

An even easier way if you only have a few files to send... email them to yourself, then check your email on your iPad. You can long-touch the image or image icon to bring up an action screen that lets you save all the image to your photo gallery.

So, 3 steps:

1. Email to yourself

2. Check email on iPad

3. long-touch to bring up "Save Image" icon

Easy peasy. But AirDrop for iOS would be much easier...

One approach is to place the photos in iTunes arranged in folders so you can keep them straight. Then connect the iPad, and when iTunes sees the iPad as inidcated under the Devices category in the left panel of the iTunes window, select the iPad and sync the photos to the iPad. They will then appear in the iPad's Photos app in the same folders.

Another way. You can use a USB flash drive & the camera connection kit.

Plug the USB flash drive into your computer & create a new folder titled DCIM. Then put your movie/photo files into the folder. The files must have a filename with exactly 8 characters long (no spaces) plus the file extension (i.e., my-movie.mov; DSCN0164.jpg).

Now plug the flash drive into the iPad using the camera connection kit. Open the Photos app, the movie/photo files should appear & you can import. (You can not export using the camera connection kit.)

It is much easier than you think. To copy all photos from Macbook Pro to iPad simply connect iPad and open iTunes. Click on the device in the left column and now in the main screen you have a number of tabs across the top. The last one is photos. Click this one and click the box "Sync Photos" and select iPhoto from the dropdown. Now the select the first option "All photo's, albums, events and faces."

This will replace the contents of your iPad with all your photos from your iPhoto Library.

I want to put SOME of the photos from my MBP onto my wife's iPad...I already have my iPhone 4 using iTunes, we have different apple ID's, and she has some great pics and video on this iPad that our daughter took that don't want to lose.

So question is: how do I do i? When you use iTunes to transfer/sync photos (yes, from iPhoto library/album(s), does it NOT replace all existing pics/vids on the camera roll/photo stream (on this IPad?

Is there any way to "append" the pics on the iPad. I need to take it to borough to show them where rain culvert next to my house collapsed and water is going in my basement.

Besides that, can't you only have one "library" on iTunes if you have 2 APPLE IDs?

Or could I make the wife a user account on the MBP and her iTunes would be independent?

If you just want to quickly drag and drop Photos from your MacBook to your iPad, you can get a free app called Pic Share It to do this. It works over Wi-Fi and will allow drap and drop photos out of iPhone or the Finder. Here's a video showing you how it works.

I agree about iPhoto.

Cable the iPad to the MBP, it opens iPhoto automatically and shows all the photos. Select and drag the photos you want into the photos folder. Open that folder, select all, and shift-command-e to tell iPhoto where to save the photos without loss of file size. I think emailing loses file size sometimes.

Do you know how to copy just two photos from your Macbook to your iPod Touch? I am trying to post a copy photos to instagram from my iPod and I can't get the photos to my iPod. I have them (the photos saved on the desk top) but since the update and the new Photos instead of the iPhotos I am having a hard time figuring it out. Thanks

This is totally brilliant, who knew? I have a USB/iPad connector, and the magic trick was use of the DCIM file folder. I often want to transfer a few dozen photos too my ipad, from the thousands in my laptop, this is so much better than going through itunes. One small caveat: use a small capacity flash drive, using a large flash drive results in an "insufficient power" message. Thanks so much!!

iPhoto, add and organize the photos in iPhoto then sync the iPad with iTunes setting the Photo sync options.

Run iTunes and sync all photos from Macbook pro to iPad. If you cannot operate photo sync, Maybe joboshare iPad Rip will help u, directly add photos to iPad library by draging without iTunes.

Have you tried photosync? I searched and search, and finally settled on it and it does a very nice job of moving pictures around. Not sure about moving TO the iPad.

I Used Pictures instead of iPhoto to get stuff from other applications.
