Transfer photos from Mac book pro to iPad??

Hi,

I need to know how to transfer photos I have on my Macbook Pro to my Ipad, via the USB? Please can someone help thanks new to apple computers and the Ipad.

Have the same problem transfering photos from mac computer to new ipad pro. Going through Itunes is a joke. suggested procedures do not work.

Nightmare so to speak and no apparent answers anywhere.
