iPhone 5 Pre-Order Delivery Date

I pre-ordered iPhone 5 32 GB black CDMA version, at about 7 central time this morning, and website says it will be delivered on October 5. If this is true, I am extrememly unhappy. Could it arrive sooner than that time?

Thanks

I hear ya. I've got the same Delivery Date. I don't understand why they make those of us that pre-ordered wait, while they make sure they have plenty to sell at the stores. Pre-orders should get priority.

It has been found out that no emails went out moving delivery dates up. That has been proven to be a hoax and the pictures of the email fake or doctored. So don't get your hopes up, it is not happening. At least you were not told as I was when I told a rep on the phone that I was a teacher to get a sub and join the line at the Apple store on the 21st. That is a stupid statement in my opinion. No phone is worth that. I had to work on the 14th so no I did not stay up all night to order and no, I am not going to pay for a sub out of my own pocket to go stand in a ridiculous line on the 21st. Reality is that I need to work and don't have the luxury or time to hang out in a line. I am thinking of canceling my order though because of the response from the rep. It has soured me a bit on Apple. But good luck to everyone else.

I sympathize with you teach. But cancelling your order will do nothing to hurt them at all. I've chosen to just wait patiently now, not happy about it, but it's not worth getting upset about anymore. I filled out their survey I got in an email requesting feedback about my experience ordering my iPhone5 from them. Doubt it will ever get read, but I told them how I felt. 😉

I am not trying to hurt them, because they don't care what I do. They don't care if I buy or don't buy. I just don't appreciate how the rep treated me on the phone and don't feel that I have to put up with that kind of treatment. I am merely making a decision based on how I was treated and what I decide to do in no way is trying to do anything. They can't be hurt.

I would consider the source. I bet a lot of the Apple employees are semi irritated every time a new product comes out and something like this happens. Some of the questions they get probably turn monotonous, and they can't help but answer accordingly (not that its right to do so). I would recommend keeping the preorder, because it really is a nice phone.

Also, one person can cause a considerable amount of damage to the reputation of any company. What was that saying again? For every dissatisfied customer, they tell 10 others..... or something like that. This is heightened when a forum is involved, and it becomes searchable from every edge of the globe.

For now, take the additional time to look up some accessories and possibly order those too (because not even all the accessories are out yet).

Oh Gosh I totally understand. I'm excited for this new phone and to see how it does!

When the iPhone was first released, they set it up to be sent within a week.

After the preorder was ready to be set at that date, everything went crazy. So so so many people are ordering this phone and they had to push out the date to two weeks or more because of so many orders.

So don't worry too much. This is just an extremely popular phone.

Just a note to let the masses know that their world will not end if they do not get their iPhone 5 on the 21st. My ggodness people, it's a phone. You probably have a perfectly good phone in your possession now. What's a few more days of waiting? Just adds to the anticipation and excitement about receiving the phone. I'm a cancer survivor. Trust me when I say there are truly more important things to worry about.

I agree with hnb48, just note, I placed my order as soon as the site opened for pre orders and I got a "available to ship in 2 weeks" with a delivery date of the 8th of Oct. go figure? Like hnb48 said, it's just a phone, the funny thing was, I spoke to an apple rep on the 13th and they told me if I can place my order on the 14th I will get my phone on the 21st, I guess by them telling me that and now what is happening it just makes this experience a little sour, patients everyone and enjoy lifes othe pleasures

If this helps put anyone's mind at ease: I wet through this same thing almost precisely when I pre-ordered my iPhone 4 through Apple. According to their site, my order still is in "Preparing for Shipment" status. It is now after 10am on Monday. However by going to the UPS site (your shipment method may vary) under "Tracking," then "More Options," and "Track by Reference," you can type your 10-digit phone# associated with your account and see the actual status of your shipment (assuming it has begun its journey). Here's mine as of right now:

When I ordered my 4 my status remained "Preparing for Shipment" all the way up to the day it arrived.

The point of all this is that you cannot go by the status Apple provides, as they do not always update it accurately. Chin up, y'all.
