iPhone 5 Pre-Order Delivery Date

I pre-ordered iPhone 5 32 GB black CDMA version, at about 7 central time this morning, and website says it will be delivered on October 5. If this is true, I am extrememly unhappy. Could it arrive sooner than that time?

Thanks

I can't believe the crying over getting a phone later than somebody else. When I got my last iPhone (the 4) I didn't get mine until 3 weeks later, but I didn't complain because somebody else got theirs. There is one of these threads with EVERY iPhone release and people want help figuring out how this all works, so I've been providing my knowledge as a UPS employee to the benefit of those who were lucky enough to get in on the first batch. I just don't understand how this offends you. You should be happy for others, not jealous. I just don't get people like that that don't want others to have something if they can't have it. Grow up.

I am not crying over not getting it on release date. I am happy for those who are getting a phone on release date because they stayed up all night to place an order. I am not offended at all by the posts bragging. I simply was supporting the original poster's effort to what he was saying. I am not jealous either. I am operating in reality and in fact pity those who give up everything else in this way. I am grown up, probably more than those who are bragging. I chose to be rested so I could do my job instead of staying up all night to place an order and missing work to stand in line. It is a phone. What I am offended by is when I told a rep that I am a teacher and would not miss work to stand in line and then being told to get a substitute to go stand in line. That offended me and also brought me to realization how crazy this is. It is just a phone. My job and students are more important to me than a phone or getting in on the first batch. It has me really wondering if I really want the phone, need it or got caught up in the hype. So when you tell me to grow up, perhaps you instead need to look in the mirror and give yoursef that same advice, when you are spending your time tracking the movement of a plane. You won't get it sooner and isn't there anything in your life more important? I feel I am the grownup in this converstaion.

I agree with what CoasterFanFL said prior. If we were to take everyone from this thread and put them all in a room, things would definitely be different. There's a certain amount of unaccountablilty, courage, and power some people get from being completely anonymous and hidden. I bet a lot of apologies would be in order as people had to claim what they typed.

Also, this isn't my thread or anyone elses except JoshHProx. Those posting should respect the direction in which he wants to take the thread. As stated earlier, everyone has the ability to create their own threads, so there's really no reason to start havoc on this particular thread just because people feel entitled to. If he doesn't want bragging, UPS updates, plane schedules, etc... then please abide.

All those that disagree, created as many threads as it takes to make you feel better.

Just my two cents.

I'm pretty sure that the iPhones for the West Coast left Hong Kong on flight UPS59, which stopped in Anchorage to refuel, and just landed at Ontario International Airport (ONT), in Southern California.

They have 7 UPS flights lined up after that leaving ONT, starting at 1:23 am, on 9/18, for Denver, Seattle, Anchorage, Salt Lake City, Phoenix, Portland, and Sacramento. After that, there are no UPS flights leaving ONT all the way through Thursday.

UPS59 left Hong Kong at the exact time my tracking number shows departure. Perhaps UPS61, which landed in Louisville, KY a couple hours ago is carrying iPhones for the Eastern US and UPS59 is for the Western US.

For me, that would mean my order would be in Sacramento tomorrow at around 4 am.

Like I said, I work at UPS, so I was helping people out while my food was cooking. Is this your first iPhone or something? People get excited and want to know when they're getting their phones. The entire purpose of UPS tracking is so you can follow your package through the system. Are you insinuating that millions of UPS customers are all losers with nothing better to do? I don't get it.

I'm trying to do something positive, and all I see is elitist negativity. Mellow out and understand that people paid hundreds of dollars for a device that they use hours a day. It's more than a phone, some people use their phones for web browsing, email, connecting with friends and coworkers, as an alarm clock, for entertainment to unwind after a busy day, to organize their lives and stay on task, for social networking, for political activism, for GPS if they get lost, to find a place to eat and check restaurant reviews, etc.

To chalk these people up to spoiled brats for wanting to learn when they get their devices is rather small-minded, don't you think?

Josh started a delivery date thread, and there is one of these EVERY TIME, so of course people are going to discuss when they get their phones in here. Don't worry, people will also be here to help you when it's time for yours to come.

Just an FYI...this princess was smart enough to know the demand on this iPhone..She made sure her account info was correct earlier in the day. She did not stay up all night and hit the refresh button. Instead...she set her alarm. Woke up at opening time and ordered hers thru the Mother Ship " Apple store". Took about 5 min. With no issues. Then went back to bed. My phone is now resting peacefully in Kentucky. Being a teacher ...I would think you would be a little classier on here....just sayin!

I also had to stay up until 4 am Eastern Time here in Ohio to get my phone. I just don't understand how people can be so negative about others getting their phones a week or two earlier, but then saying "it's just a phone!" I think perhaps they would be best served by taking their own advice!

By the way Ms. Apple Girl, if you would be so kind, would you post where your phone is tomorrow night sometime if you're around? I know that the phones aren't supposed to be delivered until Friday, and I'm curious if Apple struck a deal with UPS to hold the phones for a day or two in Louisville before delivering them so nobody gets theire before Friday. I've been with UPS for almost 13 years and I've NEVER heard of UPS holding onto a package for a corporate customer and delivering it on a specific day, but I assume with Apple's volume that it's possible that a deal was made for such a multi-million dollar shipping agreement.

My iPhone 4 came via FedEX and was woefully slow, so I'd like the extra input since you're so close to the KSDF Louisville Air Hub that all iPhones coming into the USA must pass through. 🙂

I dont know whay everyone is so excited about the phone. Because although I expect mine on Friday I WILL NOT BE ABLE TO USE IT AS NO ONE KNOWS HOW YOU CAN GET A SIM!!! This, despute the fact i only BOUGHT it because apples website says you it comes pre loaded with a sim. I tried to complain last night but of course no one is interested. So chill out folks. even if you get one, (at least in the UK) you will be unable to use it! I will be sending mine back if I cannot get a sim by Monday, so theres good news for someone - they will not have to wait!

Just out of curiosity, did anyone in Canada manage to do the "enter the phonenumber to track your iPhone while it is still in Preparing Shipment status" trick with success?

I have ordered straight from apple.ca and tried all the suggestions mentioned, UPS and FedEx without success.

My suspicion is that our dear friends in the States might get their shipments first (which is understandable as Apple is an American company and thats the way it was in the past) - at least shipping into the country with delivery on Friday while ours ship a bit later to Canada (for delivery from Friday onwards).

@pennypup,

I don't know if this will apply to you, but when I got my iPhone 4S from Apple it came with a sim. In my case I ordered it to replace an existing iPhone on ATT. I got the discounted price and did extend the contract for my phone line. Upon arrival I was able to charge it up and activate it over Wi-Fi. This automatically deactivated the sim in my old iPhone.

This is not my first phone, in fact I have had every single one. I never tracked any of them and never posted about the tracking. As far as providing a service, you are doing a good job. I am not criticizing you, I'm just saying that people have gotten carried away. If you want to say that because people have paid so much, they have the right to brag, your wrong. If I get one, I will be paying full price. Be happy, and don't let life pass you by because you are tracking a plane with a phone on it. You will get it Friday. UPS and FedEx are reliable.
