I asked this question in CSR APT-X Twitter and sadly the answer is NO.

For me it was also very important as I was planning on using it with a Sennheiser MM 500X headphone, it is really a shame.....

I asked that to CSR also, if they would provide the codec as a paid APP and they replied that they are not planning on doing so, at least not right now, I think that would be a good option and they (Apple and CSR) would get good profits, I guess I could pay as much as 50 $ for it, considering that an adapter costs around that amount (but imagine puting an extra adapter and making the Iphone 5 even longer and would be a pain in the A$$ as well)

I have just come across a brilliant device for everyone with Bluetooth aptX headphones like the MM550-X and an iPhone 5 with the new lightning connector. This little unit http://www.custom-cable.co.uk/sennheiser-btd-300-audio-east-bluetooth-wireless-s tereo-transmitter.html is ideal, it just plugs into your headphone socket and connects up using the AptX codec and sounds SOOOO much better than the standard bluetooth stack on the iPhone 5.

Guys, guys!!! The iPhone 5 DOES support the Apr-X Codec!!! Im right now listening to my BeatBox via Monster Streamcast Bluetooth. That nice streaming Connector supports AAC Apt-X and SBC and indicates which Codec is currently used by an LED next to the Codecs Name! While listening with my iPhone 5 Apt-X is used, so the iPhone 5 does Support that Codec ;)

So now i watched closely: when Paired with my iPhone 5 the LED is GREEN, which would be AAC Coding, paired with my MBP-R15 the LED is BLUE which would be Apt-X.

So as the iPhone connects via AAC I gave it some research, an found AAC to be even more suitable for an mobile Device than Apt-X, but can not say if it supports it, as I can't trigger it to a Codec.

For me the Audioquality is on both Codecs, AAC as well as AptX, just great.
