mms on iphone 4s with straighttalk

I have a factory unlocked i-phone 4s and I am using a Straight Talk sim card. This has worked well for several months. Last week I started having trouble with my 4G connection. I called Apple and they walked me through re-setting the Network settings. The 4G connection worked great, except I could no longer send or receive mms messages. My data network tab is not on the phone. Apple said that it was my carrier but after speaking with Straight Talk I was told that the problem was with my phone. I took my phone to the Apple store and they ran diagnostics and could not find a problem. A friend with the same phone, except they have an AT&T sim card, put her sim card in my phone and once again, the mms messages did not work. Any suggestions????

Thanks for sharing Patrick83, your solution is close to what I have found out although your setting is little difference than mine. After a long search for solution, I purchased T-mobile micro SIM card through Amazon and it costed me a $5. As soon as I got the sim, did swap it by inserting t-mobile sim and when "t-mobile" showed up in network screen, I went general setting and click Cellular and APN setting. While this window is open, I took out the t-mobile SIM card and reinsereted straightalk sim. I went back the APN setting and typed the following setting.

APN: att.mvno

skip the rest

MMSC: http://mmsc.cingular.com

MMS Proxy: 66.209.11.33:80

MMS Max Size: 1048576

after I did the above setting, I returned to general setting and put airline mode and turned off the airline mode. I did sent a text message with picture and it successfully sent the photo. Here is the problem I face every time I download apple update, I loose all APN setting and I go back to square 1 by doing the sim swap again. It is very annoying these steps every time I update my iPhone OS. Let me know if you know a permanent solution and/or if your solution is a perminent one. I have Iphone 4s unlocked AT&T. Thanks

I have a unlocked (by AT&T) 3Gs, and just received a SIM from ST. The SIM is actually a tracfone SIM. I contacted ST to port my # from AT&T, that was completed yesterday...I then spent all day yesterday trying to get my APN settings to work. I tried everything...nothing worked right. I either didn't have SMS/MMS or I didn't have data...or both. I eventually entered in the settings that ST suggested for a T-Mobile compatible smart phone...and that is basicly what you have listed with a couple of deletions.

APN: wap.tracfone

User Name: {Leave Blank}

Password: {Leave Blank}

MMSC: http://mms.tracfone.com

MMS Proxy: {Leave Blank}

MMS Max Message size: {Leave Blank}

MMS UA Prof URL: {Leave Blank}

I just entered these this morning, I turned off my wifi, and my iMessage settings, then attempted to use Safari, FB, texting, and pic messaging...so far, everything has worked fine. The difference between my settings and yours, The proxy settings that you entered are listed as being for phones other than "Smart Phones". The settings listed for Smart Phones, do not list a proxy site. Will this make any difference? I don't know...I have to give it some time, and continue to try things out. I am not sure if the Max Msg size or the MMS UA Prof URL make any difference either...not even sure what those settings are supposed to do anyway...well the max msg size is self evident...lol. I will have to check back in with an update...until then...trial and error for me.

Thanks for the input...I am truly a novice...lol

These are the settings that finally worked for me. I tried EVERY SINGLE ONE of the combinations found here, the straight talk website, youtube, and other various "reputable" sources:

MMS:
APN att.mvno

I've been reading through everyone's comments, suggestions, etc., and it just baffles me. Not what any of you have said, but the trouble I've had. It could easily be that I've made it harder on myself than it should be. Let me explain:

I left AT&T for Straight Talk around the end of May. Ordered a Tmobile style sim card that I cut down to Micro-sim size in order for it to fit properly. After 24 hours or so of endless researching, I tried three different APN updates manually in order to get MMS, data, and all working. Well, of course none of the settings would stay for a decent amount of time before resetting to either blank or phone (under APN itself). Keep in mind, I tried the att.mvno settings, wap.tracfone settings, and the tfdata settings. After all of these, I still had no luck with data or MMS when away from wifi. I continued to research thru google's black hole of information lol.

After much frustration, I ordered an AT&T compatible micro-sim card on ebay. Yes, what a waste considering that Straight Talk just started putting these cards out again. I continued to have tons of trouble with my data, MMS, etc..

I contacted someone at Straight Talk last week and told them my situation (whether they could understand plain English or not is unknown). They were kind enough to send me a replacement micro-sim card which I've received today. The lady I spoke with said this is the same exact card they are sending out for AT&T compaitble cards. It does look like them, however the paperwork with it said NET10/Straight Talk instructions. I have spoken once again to another representative and had my number switched over to this new micro-sim card. I have also done the sim-swap method to prepare my settings under the "tfdata" guidelines "the most recent representative recommended that I get onto Safari and update the APN settings via http://iapnupdatetfdata.straighttalk.com . After waiting up to 24 hours or so, I guess we shall see how this turns out and go from there.

Any suggestions, comments, etc., are welcome. Thanks and best of luck to each of you!

I meant to add that I have an unlocked iPhone 4.
