mms on iphone 4s with straighttalk

I have a factory unlocked i-phone 4s and I am using a Straight Talk sim card. This has worked well for several months. Last week I started having trouble with my 4G connection. I called Apple and they walked me through re-setting the Network settings. The 4G connection worked great, except I could no longer send or receive mms messages. My data network tab is not on the phone. Apple said that it was my carrier but after speaking with Straight Talk I was told that the problem was with my phone. I took my phone to the Apple store and they ran diagnostics and could not find a problem. A friend with the same phone, except they have an AT&T sim card, put her sim card in my phone and once again, the mms messages did not work. Any suggestions????

I will be sure and tell my GSM unlocked AT&T iPhone 4S that I am currently using with a StraightTalk AT&T BYOP SIM card this information. I am sure it will laugh at your ignorance as well... OK well maybe not. SIRI just asked me if I wanted a websearch... Facepalm...

The only headache is the initial setup. SIM swap in order to change APN settings. The ones I posted above work perfectly for my iPhone 4S when many others I found (that did work for some people) did not. If you have an AT&T area, an AT&T compatable SIM card, and an UNLOCKED iPhone, you should be able to use it with just a little tech work on the front end.

My method for AT&T, which works:

Enable Cellular Data and MMS on iPhone 4S, IOS 6.1 and up on Straight Talk

(revised 2/4/2013)

Password leave blank

MMS

Update 2/14/2013 - IOS 6.1 and up on iPhone 4S

1. Close all running apps by double clicking home button to get to multitasking bar (cleans up icons and saves confusion)

2. Eject AT&T or ST SIM from your iPhone

3. Open notes app

4. Press home button to minimize notes

5. Go to Settings>General>Cellular (Cellular will be greyed out)

6. Insert T-Mobile SIM, when <Cellular> un-greys, tap it

7. Tap Cellular Data Network

8. Double press home button to get multitasking bar, select notes from bottom

9. Eject T-mobile SIM

10. Insert your Straight Talk SIM. IMPORTANT! Wait at least 60-70 seconds for HOME to appear at the top left of your screen. AT&T and HOME will alternate, then HOME will stay displayed. If you don't wait, this procedure will fail, and you will have to start over.

11. Double tap home button to get to the multitasking bar, select settings. You should see the <Cellular> settings page.

12. Enter the settings as given above, double check your entries for typos. Back out of the settings screen completely.

13. Everything should work, switch your wi-fi off on your iPhone and test that cellular data works (open a web page or check mail). Also, text someone a picture to verify MMS is working.

14 (optional) Reboot your iPhone and toggle airplane mode on and off, then test cellular data and MMS again to make sure your settings are staying.

ok...so instead of all arguing maybe someone can actually help me.....I know other people out there having to be using the iPhone 4s w/the new updated AT&T ST Sim (Tfdata settings, att.mvno doesn't work for me) ..and have iMessage working....right? What am I missing?

I've tried downloading the APN from ST's site, tried the one from unlock....tried putting them in manually....reset network settings numerous times...hard reset...turned off/on...prayed....splashed holy water on it...nothing....just keeps failing at activate...

I have an unlocked iphone 4S and I have internet but I cannot get MMS to work. I've tried all of these settings, I tried turning on airplane mode, turning it off, shutting off wifi, MMS, iMessage the works. Still no MMS, Data is fine, but picture messages just won't work. I'm really starting to get irritated, if AT&T service wasn't so outrageous I'd go back to a regular plan but until they do something with their billing and make it compatible to StraightTalk, I refuse to go on a monthly plan again. Do we have any other ideas on how to get my phone working? I would love to figure something out before I deploy again! It ***** to be in Germany & not having MMS to send pix back to family... Thanks in advance.

I did that with my iPhone 4 with iOS 7, which was EXACTLY the same instructions that Straight Talk gave me to do and the APN at http://iapnupdatetfdata.straighttalk.com says NOT VERIFIED. I tried turning off my phone and turning it back on and it still says that APN is "not verified". Ugh! iMessage still will only recognize my Apple/iTunes login email address for iMessage and greyed out phone number. I've uncheck marked the email address, restarted phone and still "waiting to authorize" iMessage. I have reset all settings on the phone 3 times and even "skipped" signing in to my Apple/iTunes account on set up and still "waiting to authorize" iMessage. I've tried the Airplane Mode trick that I've read online to do. I'm ready to toss my phone thru the wall. Very Frustrating! Apple and/or Straight Talk is making this a frigging nightmare. I switched over my old iPhone 3G for my daughter in law 3 months ago and was smooth sailing and no problems, but the iPhone 4 with iOS 7 switch has been nerve unraveling. HELP Please someone...

I beg to differ. My old GSM AT&T iPhone 3G with a Straight Talk SIM working GREAT! But the GSM AT&T iPhone 4 iOS7 with a Straight Talk SIM works perfectly EXCEPT iMessage which lists/shows my phone number in iMessage choices box but it is light grey with a checkmark beside it but below the phone number is my Apple ID (email address) that is in bold with a checkmark beside it. I have uncheckmarked, removed, restarted, Airplane moded it and signed out of Apple and still it will ONLY send iMessages and/or texts using my Apple ID. There's gotta be an easy fix... but I can GUARANTEE that GSM AT&T iPhones with Straight Talk sim cards DO WORK and ARE compatible.

Ok, for some reason I can not find the answer to my question online anywhere. I have Straight Talk. I am using an Iphone 4S with the latest Apple update 7.0.4 and the new carrier update from Straight Talk. I can use the phone fine, internet is fine, data is fine and I can even send an MMS to someone. Problem is I can not RECEIVE an MMS! Does anyone have the fix to this issue?? I need help or I will have to dump Straight Talk. Please ASAP

Since then, StraightTalk has become a supported carrier. However, they are only a supported carrier for CDMA iPhones sold specifically for StraightTalk. The use of an unlocked iPhone is not supported by Apple, nor is it officially supported or allowed by StraightTalk. You can go to WalMart and buy a phone intended for use on their network. It is a locked, CDMA phone.
