How do I clear "other" effecting iphone storage

I have tried to completely reboot my iphone and after all that trouble I still show 3.5 gb of 'other' storage I cannot free up. It is really irritating. Why hasn't apple found a fix for this issue,

WHat else can I do short of having to completely clear out my iphone again - which I do not want to do again?

"Other" contains all of the data that is not categorized by iOS. For example, your contacts, reminders, calendar events and messages do not have a category as it is displayed in iTunes. All of this is stored in the 'Other' category. Some other things that contribute to this is all of the applications store data within their "folders" on the device; Facebook stores your posts, games store your in-app purchases. If you go into Settings - General - Usage - Manage Storage you will see how much space each application is taking up on the device.

As an example, one time my Facebook app had about 2 GB of data being used. I deleted the App and reinstalled it and it went down to 64 MB (original download size as listed in the iTunes App Store). If you really want to get it down you need to pay attention to what apps are using the most data and manage those apps.

I have a whopping 11.15 GBs of "other" taking up space on my phone and i have had this issue for a long time, I used to be able to back my phone up and then restore it so it kept all of my stuff but none of the corrupt "other" but recently when I tried to solve it doing what i always do it hasn't done anything. I love music and pictures and videos so I am always adding on to those things and being told I don't have any storage space and it is maddening because I know that the stuff taking up space isn't my doing and it is some sort of unsolvable issue, please someone help!!!

I looked in my manage storage section in settings and if you do the math there is no way what is being shown is everything taking up my storage. It has got to be an issue with my phone, I may just need to get a new one or just get this one checked out. It would be really impressive and wonderful and extremely helpful if apple would get on this issue though!

Oh yes, "Other" will also include corrupt/lost data. For example, I just had my 85 GB music library disappear on my 128GB iPhone. All of my songs and playlists are gone but the storage occupied by the music files is apparently now categorized as "Other" by iTunes. Re-syncing does nothing to address this issue. Clearly my music library became corrupt but the storage for the music files is still taking up space.

I came here looking for a quicker, easier solution than having to restore from a backup, but alas I see none. Here we go again. Yes, this has happened to me before, a couple of times, with earlier phone models. I don't know if it's more common with larger music collections or what.
