No, he doesn't use a smart phone at all! He still keeps his extra tough flip phone! I did download and install the new Quicken 2016 for Mac. Didn't like it at ALL!!! It was nothing like any Quicken product I have used and I didn't care for any part of it. Called to try and get my money back and finally hung up when they said I was number 79 in line! Tried iBank, didn't work for me, tried Xero, liked it but way to expensive for what I need, currently trying QuickBooks online. I think this will work. A little pricier than what I am used to but I like the fact that if my computer goes down, I can use my work computer to access. I have talked to a few local people that use the online version and they are really pleased. Will see how that works out. Great forum with great info! Thanks everyone..
Until I can get my El Capitan partition to work and run Quicken 2016 for Mac for myself, which Quicken products have you been using?
I suspect that EC has difficulties dealing with any USB connected EHD. I only use FW ones, so I can recommend is to do a google search for EC and Ext USB HDs.

Once again, Csound1, I have to report one of your posts as inappropriate for Host editing. As such, I am done with your obsessive need to take positions that are contrary to mine! Debate yourself!
Feel free to report my post Michael, it does not change my beliefs. Which are that you obtain reward from continually obfuscating the facts regarding Intuits failure to support their Macintosh clients.

I run 2 copies of ElCap (10.11 and a later one) from USB3 connected EHD's. There are no problems that I can see.

But it begs the question: If I am to consider the upgrade from Lion to Mt. Lion, why not go further to Mavericks, Yosemite or El Capitan?
Because you apparently like Lion and will be disappointed with the iOSified versions of those latter three. Gray, dull, flat, barely readable type, and hidden functions, to name a few. Check these out :

It's a free country Michael, anyone, even everyone is allowed to take a position country to yours, as they please.

Considering all of the posts that have just been deleted by the moderators, I consider myself vindicated! The TOU rule after all...

Perhaps you could use some help with that, wouldn't want you to be outdated when millions can make ElCap work. What is your difficulty with it?
The TOU do not forbid opposing views, even to yours.

I seem to be having problems with El Capitan in a separate partition on my 3TB USB external HD.
I cannot dual boot over to it, even after I select it in Startup Disk, and when I Option-boot" I do not see it listed.
Maybe I have forgotten how to correctly partition my HD using Disk Utility. Can you give me a quick primer?
Try this instructional article.

Thanks for your attempt at help.
My principal HD runs Lion. I have an external USB 2.0 HD that I have partitioned and installed El Capitan. I am unable to boot into it using either Startup Disk or Option at Startup.
Since I cannot get El Capitan to run, an article about using its Disk Utility won't help either. How about a link to Lion's Disk Utility as an instructional article to properly partition my external USB HD so that I can install and dual-boot El Capitan?

Show me where that says views opposed to yours are forbidden?

I never made this claim; you did!

I could repeat your deleted post, but then it would only get deleted by the moderators again! 😁
It is time to remind users that Intuit have a long history of poor support for Macs, during the 6 years that they failed to update Quicken 2007 for current Macs most other vendors, even of significantly more complex software did update them (Microsoft Office for example) while Intuit relied for a while on a 3rd party emulator provided to them by Apple, and when that went away they chose to abandon users of new Macs entirely.
Support?
