thanks dear, this solution in just great, solved my problem....was getting the message for 1 year....
Thanks changing the date/time to 2013 and them back to automatic date/time fixed the issue. This also worked for other people temporally! Hopefully mine stays permenant. Thank you.
UPDATE: changing the date to 2013 doesn't work! Only allows you to connect to App Store/iTunes store, however when you try clicking the apps in the App Store, error message " cannot connect to AppStore" anyone know a fix?? Please
TRY TO DELETE ANY GAMES OR ANY APP THAT YOU CHANGED THE TIME AND DATE FOR , I have played candy crush saga and used to change time and date for getting more lives after i deteleted the game it zorked to connect to itunes good luck guys and merry christmans
Hey i had the same problem, i turned off the wifi on my ipod touch, then turned it back on and i turned off my ipod touch and restarted it. This still didn't work, but for some reason when i went onto the itunes app, the itunes app worked, then i went to the app store and this fixed it.
I hope this helped 😀
Thanks andra and inkron, I didn't do anything, it just fixed itself lol but thanks anyway. :D
Apple just came out with an OS upgrade. I wonder if that did it for you. While I never heard they acknowledged the problem, they must have been aware.
Hi funnily enough I didn't have any issues with the previous software 6.0.1, it came with the new software update, the current one out now 6.0.2. It took forever to update, it was moving a millimetre an hour and I have fiber optic, I couldn't cancel it as I didn't back my phone up so I didn't want to loose anything, so played the waiting game ah.
This works for me, as far as a workaround to allow me to get to the apps. It still leaves me the problem of getting the "cannot connect to the iTunes Store" error message when I click on the "featured" tab or when initially hitting the App Store icon, which defaults to Featured. I am on iPad 2, and I think the problem started with the system update yesterday -- I'm not sure, since I've only had it for two days! But I don't need "featured" anyway, as far as I know, since your solution gets me to the apps in a roundabout way.
I had already tried the time/date thing and the DNS thing, with no success.
I can't figure out how to log out of the App Store to try that.
Anyway, thanks!
Sorry, "this" was the advice offered at the bottom of page 7:
Hi everybody. I have had this issue time and time again. Here is a solution that worked for me. Go to the App Store. Click "Purchases" instead of "Update". Each app that needs updating will have the iCloud symbol next to it. Tap the symbol. You will be prompted to enter your Apple Password. Once you enter it once you will be able to update each app. Some apps will begin "installing" on their own while others will go to the apps page. If so, tap the "install" button. It should change to state " update". Tap again and your apps will update. Apparently this is Apple's way of ensuring that you have legally acquired the apps by only allowing them to update thru iCloud. Hope this helps.
This did not work for, but the first fix in this list did:

Why doesn't Apple have this fix posted everywhere, instead of us having to search all over for it. All I wanted to do was buy an app and it took thirty minutes! Now I've forgotten which app I was going to buy.
Re cannot connect to iTunes Store on iPad 2
changing time mutilple times, up dating software, rebooting, no help. however going to settings> iTunes App Store> turning off automatic downloads then tapping apple ID in drop down box tap sign out. Next go to App Store and you are asked for sign in, it works great ever since. I went back and turned on automatic downloads.
I believe that my first post was not clear. Changing time did not work for me, nor did turning off automatic downloads. However, change the DNS setting as per the first fix article in this link worked on my iPad first, and also on my iPhone after I updated it to iOS6.
Here is the link, again:

Changing time and date didn't work for me, nor any of the other suggested fixes. New iPhone 5, when click on App Store or iTunes the error message (cannot connect to iTunes) immediately comes up. If I go into settings for iTunes and try and log in using apple ID and password I get the same error message. Very frustrating.
Oh my god! Finally! Thank you so much! this strangely works! Yikes, Apple. Fix this stupid bug, will ya?
