IOS 6 Error - Unable to install update

I'm having the same problem as everyone else. The update downloaded and started to install and all seemed fine, but it aborted partway through, and now I am unable to install the new iOS. I'm hoping Apple staff see the extent of this problem and post a hotfix patch on their servers soon.

Same issue here. I have the itunes logo and an image of a usb cord. How do we get this fixed? Take it to the Apple store??

I am having this same issue! I need help! I have been trying to get it to download now for the past 7 hours and no matter what I try I still have the same iTunes logo with a picture of the cord

I gave up in the end after about 10 hours with the USB symbol and iTunes on my iPad 3. I took it to my nearest Apple dealer, who said it was no problem, come back in a hour, it will be all fixed. When I got back they were as stuck as I had been. My iPad has now been sent to their service department and looks as if they will have to replace it under warranty.

i had the same problem but managed to get it to install by unplugging the usb as soon as the iphone instal bar was filled and disapeared. I think this fooled the phone and it opened up without the usb symbol but the new phone appearance. I was then able to set up the phone as if it was new then resotre from back up with the new software. Never the less, the whole thing sucked

That was the one thing I didn't try. It's with Apple now so I guess I have to wait for them to fix or replace. I agree, it *****, this should never have happened and wasted a huge amount of my time unnecessarily and I no longer have the iPad and will have the hassle of getting it restored from my Backup when I get it back, which I hope works!

My iPad2 finally worked when I switched from trying it on desktop to laptop.

It took a while though so the servers were definitely jammed. Had to reinstall apps

But really it needed a cleanup if unused apps anyway.

I also tried the laptop approach, but that didn't work either. The iPad 3 is only a few months old, was working perfectly on IOS5 before the upgrade and then went completely. The Apple shop also tried a Restore on their iMac but that did exactly the same thing, that was the time the Shop Assistant decided it had to go in to their workshop. Unfortuantely I live on an Island in the English Channel and there is no Apple Store, only an Authorised Dealer, we are also a VAT Free area and this makes it impossible for me to personally get it to a mainland Apple Store without paying the 20% VAT, it's a crazy world.

I have same problem to update my iPhone4 to iOS 6 by wifi.

"I downloaded the IOS 6 update and clicked on Install Now. and click to Agree. It says verifying update and then I get the error "Unable to install update. An error occured installing IOS 6." I get a choice of Close or Settings. Both take me back to IOS 6 update screen. It does say it's downloaded."

My iPad 3 had a fault that was stopping me from doing the upgrade, this was the Unknown Error (21). Apple replaced it immediately and all is well with the new iPad 3. The only problem is that the Restore of all my Apps from Backup didn't work as I had tried so many times to get the old iPad to update I had wrecked the Backup in some way without realising. On the good side, I had also used iCloud Backup as well and I was able to recover pretty well all the Apps from there, but it took many hours.

If you cant install ios 6. Try on other computer with iTunes. This worked for me because I got errors on iTunes.
