ios 6 stuck and Frozen

Don't do anything, be patient, it will restart. Took mine a half hour.

I did not do anything, that was the beauty of it. By the time I wrote that reply and checked my phone again, it was working... so my advice is DO NOTHING and WAIT. (I know, not the answer you want to hear about not being able to use "the device that you use most in your life" *english accent*) lol

It "should" work soon...

Oiy. It's taking forever. Stuck only 1 mm away from the end on progress bar "Preparing Update". Do I have to keep the phone awake?

Gareth, was it stuck on the black screen with the logo and empty progress bar? That's where mine is stuck right now.

Worked finally. Moving to the iPhone now.

Folks......a bazillion people are all trying to update at the same time. Be patient and keep your phones on while it's updating to iOS6. I successfully updated my iP4, without any hiccups, but it took almost an hour to complete over WiFi. Once your phone comes back up, you have to answer a few questions (network to use), Apple ID Password, etc., but then you can use your phone. Nothing was dropped or lost from my phone and I see no difference in speed.

I had the same experience on a new iPad WIFI 32GB as well as my 16 GB 4S. I waited it out for about 25 minutes on the ipad and 30 on the iphone. they did move evetually just be patient. don't touch anything!

Mine was stuck on empty progress bar for half an hour, then it restarted. You'll be fine just be patient.

My new iPad is also stuck on the black screen with apple showing progress. About 2 inches left and it's not moving at all. I did hit the home key and the lock button, but just waiting on the update per the previous messages. Will post back if it worked/didn't.

Two and a half hours downloading and preparing update and then I get a message that says "Error installing update". I'm not happy

Yep, my iPhone 4 is stuck on "Preparing Update" as well. I know two other people with 3GS' that are fine. Proobably another example of Apple rushing something out of the door. Not unlike their Mountain Lion MacBook Pro battery life fiasco.

my phone virtually disappeared...it is now asking me to restore. there is no serial number no phone seen in computer...nothing....

My iPhone 4 took a very long time to prepare the update, then it went to the black screen with apple logo and the progress bar took a long time to fill. Once it was filled, the progress bar became empty and has now been stuck like that for over half an hour.. I hope it comes back to life soon!

My friends just sent me a message on my iPad 2 and he says he already got the update on his new iPad, he started the whole process about only an hour ago and here I am still waiting for my iPhone 4 to update since 11:00 AM
