ios 6 stuck and Frozen

Both my ipad and my iphone are stuck on a screen that shows an update progress bar that isn't moving.

The download happened. This is in the installation phase. What to do? Both devices are frozen. Scared to force a restart.

Just in case anyone is still having this issue I tried to restart my iPod touch (4th Gen) a bunch of times, and restart iTunes with no success. I then realized that I was using an non-Apple USB to Dock Connector cable. I dug around the house for an Apple one, swapped the cables, and restarted the iPod. Everything is working/updating now. Just an FYI for those of us out there (like me) that overlook the simple issues. 🙂

My iphone froze after responding to prompt to update to IOS 6. Very scary prospect!!!

I managed to fix problem by following following instructions on About, which returned phone to factory settings. Also managed to restore most of my personal settings, as I fortunately had a back up of my iphone on my computer (some might have backup on cloud). I am now a very happy camper... :-) Thankyou About - you are a providing a valuable service to us.

My Ipod Touch 4. gen got stuck on the "verifying Ipod-unit.." part of the update, with the usb and itunes icons showing on the screen of the ipod. I tried disconnecting, restarting and all that on the pod, but ultimately I had to use taskmanager to quit itunes and then start it up again. Well, it worked, but it also made my ****** apple **** return to factory settings, so now I have squat on it. I would have thought that my 40gb of music would take a little longer to erase, as it took countless hours to get the dang music on it. Well, well, nothing to do about it. Thanks "apple" for making expensive crap and software that ***** a dingbat.

TL;DR: Apple is shady, and I will not be using their products in the future. Also DO NOT DOWNLOAD UPDATE 6.0.1, you have been warned.

The hang on sync can be avoided by updating all purchased apps before beginning the sync of a new iPhone 6. With the current demand on Apple servers, updating your existing apps can take a couple of hours. After the purchased apps have been updated, the sync process will load quickly without the hang experienced by many when apps are loading to the new phone from a previous iPhone generation backup.
