After upgrading to iOS 6, I now have a white icon called springboard that I cannot delete. I've tried rebooting my iPhone, however it still persists. By the way, my iPhone is not jailbroken.
Anybody else see this?

Same here, tried restore as well, but unfortunately it didn't work. Any other idea, how to solve it? It's kind of annoying...
I have the exact same issue. Although I suspect the resolution to this could be a "Reset Home Screen Layout". I really do not want to perform this action as I have many folders and reseting the home screen will place all apps within folders onto the home screen.
Surely there must be another fix?

That's interesting. Simply put, "Springboard" isn't a program, but rather the term used to name the Home Screen. It's what you see when you unlock your phone, it's what you're looking at when you see all of your App icons.
Yep, exactly as mine looks. By chance did you jailbreak in the past as I'm wonderfing if perhaps there is leftover .pref files in our backup files that could be confusing iOS?

I've never jailbroken my iPhone. Any more thoughts guys? I've resorted to moving the white springboard icon to a new home screen and there it sits, all on it's own. Out of sight, out of mind? Maybe.
This is good to know as it rules that theory out. I'm doing a restore on my iPhone as we speak and then going to restore my backup to see if the issue returns. I'll report back when it's done...

It worked until I restored the iCloud backup...
Same with me. Seems like detail, but things like that just didn't happen... I am absolutely sure, that it will take at least few weeks for them to release update :-((
I tried restoring screen layout and even complete restore. Didn't work, this is BUG!

Reset Settings seems to work.
I'm note sure because i just reset content and settings, restored icloud backup (and the icon reappears)
After a reset (only settings) it seems disappeared but the phone's dowloading all the apps from the store.
I think it needs at least an hour to complete downloads
I can confirm that restoring iOS and using your saved backup does not solve this issue. I've also noticed another iOS 6 springboard bug. I moved an app from one page to another, and it will dissapear then reappear as I move through different pages of the springboard (granted it's still finishing download all of my apps but I don't remember this behavior in iOS 5). My iPad upgrade went fine - no rogue white icons.
Apparently Apple still has some bugs they'll need to contend with. In the meantime it looks like we'll have to tuck this sucker in a folder and try to forget about it until either Apple or someone smarter that us figures it out... 😉

Did you loose all of your settings by doing this, if so I don't have the energy to have to redo everything from scratch...
I've lost only iOS settings, not app's settings.
For example: wifi & vpn settings, bluetooth pairings, notifications settings, siri was disabled...
App specific settings were still there, same for mail & exchange accounts.
