Do Not Disturb not working iOS 6

Updated my iPhone 4 to iOS 6 about 90 minutes ago and have been looking through the new features since.

Do Not Disturb is not working, I've set the schedule (in notifications) and switched on in settings but phone rings normally despite being in the quiet period. Anyone else having the same problem?

I've got a problem with DND with a slight twist. I manually slide it on when I finish working and slide it off right before 9:00am. I have a friend that was on my favorite list, but I temporarily took them off when they called late a few times.

I have subsequently added their contact back to my favorites list. But for some reason, when they call and DND is turned on, the phone doesn't ring. It rings when other favorites call during the same session. I have verified that they are calling from the same number and that I have added that specific number to my favorites. Their missed call and subsequent message proves that they called from the number that is set in favorites.

I removed them from favorites and readded them. I also made a slight modification to their contact and resaved it just to make sure everything was "set". Not sure what else to try. Has anyone else seen this behavior?

I think I did do that, but I did it again for good measure. I'm hoping that since there are other DND issues, that there will be an IOS 6 update to address all of them soon.

I totally agree with your assesment, BTW, that DND should not allow people to call in while the phone is active. I set mine to DND after hours and weekend because it's also my work phone. Nothing is more irritating that doing something as simple as checking in at a restaurant with foursquare or texting a family member only to have a customer interrupt right when I open my phone!

That is NOT DND!

Yes, no clue why they decided to implement it that way. I guess the thinking is that if you're actually using the phone, you're not "tied up" and must be ok with getting notifications, calls, etc. However, they didn't seem to consider if you are in a quiet meeting/restaurant/movie/classical concert/library. How embarrassing...

The answer is simple - just add an option in the Settings called "Only when Locked" and let the user decide...

You clearly did not read the reasoning of other users who talked about having alarm clock apps running. These apps work just like a "real" alarm clock. They display the time continuously and prevent the iPhone from going into AutoLock. These are very useful apps and provide services that iOS does not with its built-in apps.

But since the phone screen is not locked when these apps are running, DND doesn't function as it was intended. It allows phone calls and other notifications to come through, disturbing the sleep of the phone's owner. So these owners are simply asking Apple to consider making a change in iOS that would allow these apps and DND to both work properly together.

So take a few deep breaths and calm down, eh?
