wifi sync not working after ios6 update

I was running the final version of the iOS6 prior the official release with iTunes 10.6 and observed the same issue. I think it started with the GM version since all the previous beta versions synced just fine over wifi.

This problem also affects my iPhone 4 and iPad 3, both running on iOS6.

Mine had not been working, but then when I installed iOS 6 it worked. I thought, yes, it finally works.

At least it did yesterday when I installed everything. Then today, started everything up and once again it did not recognize the iPhone. Can sync by cable fine, but as soon as I unplug, the phone disappears. Have turned off wifi, rebooted phone, etc.

I have seen some places that suggest solutions, but it usually involves uninstalling iTunes, running a cleaner, etc. which has worked for me. The wifi sync works, but then it seems like as soon as I reboot my computer or my iPhone accesses another wireless network, it stops. I am not about to re-install iTunes every day for the sake of this small feature.

After installing IOS 6 on two of the (new) iPads, iTunes will only intermittently connect to the iPads to sync them via wi-fi.

Rebooting the iPad or things like turning the wi-fi connection on and off will get one of the pads to show up in the iTunes list every now and then, but if you turn the computer off they wont be there the next time you boot up.

The only thing that is consistent is that my old iPad 1 running IOS 5 works just peachy.

Same problem as me. My iOS 5 devics sync, but not my iOS 6 devices. I have to plug them into the computer via USB for them to sync.

everything now works again 4 me 🙂
i dont know where the problem was but from now to then the WiFi sync worked again 😝

I'm having the same problem. My iPhone (IOS 6) is not coming up in iTunes and when I go into the iTunes Wifi Sync on my phone it says it is searching for my MacBook Pro. I had no problems prior to updating to iOS 6, and my mother's iPhone is doing the same thing for her Window's Vista computer.

I'm experiencing the same issues with all my ios devices. Doesn't matter if I start the sync from the phone or the computer.

I am also having the same issue. I am running the latest version of Mountain Lion, iTunes and iOS 6 (iPhone 5). If I want to sync my iPhone I have to plug it in with a USB cable. I have turned off my wi-fi on the computer and phone, then turned them both on. I tried changing my firewall settings and I have synced the iPhone with the box checked and unchecked that says, sync over wi-fi. Please someone figure this out for us.

My IPhone Froze when I tried to update to I0S6 using ITUNES

Because my OS of 10.5.8 is not comptabiable with the ITUNES 10.7 which is

needed to upgrade to IOS 6. I Can not restore my Iphone after the IOS6 update as

IT FREEZES while doing restore. Tried many options.

Just found out from Tech at AT&T, Iphone provider: that ISO6 is comptable

with itunes 10.7 ONLY IF UPGRADED using your IPhone using WiFi

Am Told: Can not upgrade via Itunes on your computer,unless you have ITunes version 10.7

I currently have itunes 10.6.3 which is the latest version I can get because my

Mac OS is 10.5.8

There should of been warning: do not upgrade to IOS6 using computer with ITunes

unless you have ITunes version 10.7 ......ONLY upgrade using your iphone with WIFi

Now I have to upgrade my computer to be able to restore my IPhone runing on IOS6

Mon.I will upgrade to Lion, download ITunes 10.7 &see if my iphone will turn on...IF NOT

have an appt. at Apple store on Monday to restore my Iphone ! NOT HAPPY

Another me too. My iOS6 iPad 2 does not show up in devices in iTunes when unplugged. Wife's iOS5 iPad2 does show up (as mine used to before the upgrade) and can initiate sync from either iTunes or iPad.

One observation: I can watch videos via "shared". So, iOS6 iPad can initiate that communication with iTunes on my Mac Mini.

This is absolutely ridiculous, how could they let OS and iOS updates be released with so many issues.

not sure what has changed but suddenly worked for me 😕 but it is not consistent. just rebooted my laptop and started itunes. still no wireless iphone showing in the left sidebar after 10mins

ok so left itunes open, phone has been in sleep mode and itunes has now found my iphone...after about 20mins
