wifi sync not working after ios6 update

I GIVE UP!

Some days when I mess with WiFi Sync I plug it into laptop, sometimes I reboot phone, and usually iTunes as well on Win 7 64. Sometimes I mess with settings on iTunes and its Preferences, sometimes those on phone.I seldomly reboot laptop. It'll work for some number of hours or a day or so.

I am tired of trying to solve the puzzle of the secret sequence.

Well, since I gave my iPhone a static IP from my router I've had 4 clear days of wifi synching.

I haven't had to constantly reboot or restart anything.

Now I'll set static IPs for the other iPhone and 2 iPads in the house. I'll let you know in a few days if they are fixed too.

It's just possible that this simple workround has fixed my problems once and for all.

I'm having sort of the same problem - i can sync using wifi if I initiate it through iTunes on my Macbook , but if I try to sync using wifi from the iPhone 5 it says waitng for Macbook to recognize phone ...

Hey ya...couldn't get my iPad to sync wirelessly like everyone else says. I've tried all the prescribed methods and none of them worked for me.

What did work was to check 'back up to this computer' box, instead of the 'back up to cloud', and it started working just fine.

Yes, finally. HTTP to Auto did the trick for me too. On an iPad and an iTouch. Also rebooted the router before making the switches on the devices just to make sure. Also powered off both devices. The latter two steps are probably unecessary. Thanks again for the person who identified this simple fix.

About that static IP address, I would wonder if you might have issues with a static IP address when you try to use other wifi networks. Have you tried or had any issues?

Just got home after 4 days abroad. My iPhone and iPad won't sync and neither will the iPad or iPhone that remained in the house. Re-boot the iMac and all is good again and I guess live every other fix on here this one just lasts for a few days.

Frustration is not the word.

Well, it only worked for a day, the auto HTTP proxy "fix" that is. Not really sure what to do. A lot of people here have thought of a lot of good ideas, but it doesn't look like any of them last very long. 😟

TURNING THE WiFI OFF&ON ACTUALLY WORKED_. I WOULD RECOMMEND THIS OPTION_.

You need to read the other 23 pages of "fixes".

Turning wifi on and off only fixes it for a few hours to a day or so.

After a day of complete inability to wifi sync my iPhone 4S to iTunes on my Mac (trying many different suggetions in this thread), iOS 6.1 came out, and it seems to have fixed the problem! Well, I know better than to expect it to be longterm, but I'm hopeful... I'll report back after a few days. Apparently updating with iTunes is a bit less problematic than OTA, or so I've heard.

I've tried everything suggested in this thread and neither my girlfriend with an iPhone 4 or myself on an iPhone 3GS can sync wirelessly on MacBook Pros with OSX 10.7.5 and iTunes 11.0.1 (12). Last successful wireless sync was in November.

I have probably wasted about 15 hours trying to sort this out. Talk about time saving features...

Couldn't agree more. I've done everything too and it breaks after a day or so.

What makes it even more infruriating is everthing in my chain is Apple.

iOS6.1 doesnt fix it either.

Sorry to hear it's no unanimous, but since updating to 6.1 yesterday, wifi syncs keep working and working for me. I couldn't get a wifi sync to happen no matter what the day before (tried everything...). Immediately after the update, I'm in wifi sync bliss. I'm on a 4S. Wonder why it seems to have helped me, not you?
