wifi sync not working after ios6 update

Is anyone else having this problem. I updated to iOS 6 today on my iPhone 4s, everything else is working just fine, but wifi-sync isn't working, my phone doesn't appear in itunes until i plug it into my computer. Anyone have any ideas?

Yes, I tried the entire, restart router -> plug in devices -> restart airport sequence and it looked ok, but then the devices dropped out of iTunes some time later. The last thing I did was stop and start airport (wireless) on the Mac and then they came back into iTunes without any intervention. After that happened, wifi synch seems to work when initiating from iTunes, but is still hit or miss when initiating from the device. Of all the things I've tried, the wifi restart seems like the most successful, but it still may take time for iTunes to "find" the devices. The odd thing is that it is clearly not a home network issue because I can connect to my Mac with any number of apps without issue (MobileMouse, ssh, ftp). Its hard to say if its IOS or iTunes or OSX, but I think I'm most suspicious of iTunes since it is unreliable in the way it displays enabled devices. To top it off, I even have problems occasionally when plugging in directly to the Mac with a charging cable. It will fail to recognize the device or give some "Cannot Synch" error, but it either works anyway, or unplugging and replugging works. It's all very odd since this used to be 100% reliable, but I don't expect it to be fixed until there is another iTunes, IOS or OSX upgrade and hopefully, it won't require all 3...!

I hope this information will help some people.

I have noticed on Itunes 10.7 that at times the Apple Mobile Device service (windows 7 64 bit) starts using CPU time, even when nothing is happening.

On occassions I have stopped it, then restarted it and have noticed that the devices reconnect not long after.

Today I have experimented with it, and discovered that when some of the devices wouldn't sync, by stopping the service, then restarting it - devices connected and managed a sucessful sync.

I have tried everything else in this thread and elsewhere, but the only thing that works each time for me is to restart that service.

I had the same problem, and have tried all sorts of potential solutions based on lots and lots of conversations about this problem. I checked my wireless router settings, I checked my firewall settings, I un-installed and re-installed software, I configured and re-configured the sync process...all without success.

I FINALLY found a fix for my situation! (By the way, I have an iPhone 4, and I have Windows 7 64-bit). The way I was able to fix this was by doing the following: (1) Disable Apple Mobile Device service via msconfig, (2) Restart the computer, (3) Enable Apple Mobile Device service via msconfig, (4) Restart the computer, (5) Power down iPhone, (6) Power up iPhone, and finally, (7) Open iTunes. Voila! 😁

This may not be the right solution for you, but at least it's another one for the books on this annoying problem! Good Luck.

The "fix" I talked about on the 21st worked only once! 😕 However, I have another solution that finally solved the problem for me, and hopefully will help someone else. Try refreshing your wireless modem, and then conduct a re-boot on your IOS device. This was almost too simple! The only catch is, I have to re-boot my iPhone if I've shut down iTunes on my pc.

I have just encountered the same problem.

The only thing that worked was restarting the Apple Mobile Device Service.

Easiest way is alt-cntrl-delete then go to services then click apple mobile device and the next screen that pops up allows you to restart the service.

Hopefully the next Itunes fixes this since I would prefer leaving my Phone in the dock to sync via wifi.

I've tried most of the suggestions in this post and most of them work once and then problem is back again. I currently have my units syncing reasonably well using the cable but I'm still looking for a solution. I just noticed that on my Windows 7 (64 bit) system I have Bonjour installed in both the 32 bit and 64 bit versions. This can't be good. Does anyone else with a Windows 7 system see this as well and, more importantly, does anyone with a Windows 7 system THAT IS NOT HAVING THIS PROBLEM have both versions of Bonjour installed? I'm still waiting for iTunes 11 as the problem started with the latest iTunes update (and it won't let me go back - error message when opening the library) but Apple appears to have delayed the release of the product.

Same problem for me - never had trouble syncing over wi-fi from my iphone 4. Bought an iphone 5 and could no longer sync anything. I can sync over USB and if I unplug my phone from the USB connection it stays visible in itunes. BUT, as soon as I then try to sync over WiFi itunes says it is looking for the phone for a few seconds, then the phone disappears from itunes.

This worked for me, after a lot of trying other stuff. On my iphone: settings / general / itunes wi-fi sync / Sync Now. The phone then appeared in itunes on my iMac and synced. After that I was able to move music on and off the phone from itunes on the iMac. All seems to work now.
