For Mac users with Iphone 4GS: This worked for me after the same issues:

Thank you Rackmani for the link and Iphone32gb for coming up with this solution!!

    Worked beautifully -- thanks!!

Glad to see I'm not the only one with this problem, other's are feeling my pain as well. I don't know what happened but my wifi syncing problems started about 1 week or so ago. Anyway, same symptons as most of you are describing plus some. My 4S would show up in itunes and then just disappear for no reason. Sometimes it would disappear in the middle of a sync.

Odd thing was, it always worked fine if I initiated the sync from the phone instead.

Anyway, the only thing that's gottem ir close to working again is doing a full reset on the network settings. So far, that has things back to normal. We'll see how that goes.

If that doesn't work, then it's time to remove and reinstall the Apple mobile device service.

    Good luck everyone!

Setting a HostName worked! I've been frustrated by this for weeks and had given up on wifi sync. Thanks!

Wait.  So it "just works" now?

    *shrug*

Guys, hey at least there's always the cable to fall back on. :)

Thanks F8aylo. Your suggestion works for me.

Turned off the LAN connection and connected to my network via wifi... started working immediately

Rashad, that worked for me as well, but only temporarily. If it stops working for you again, try my solution above. Best of luck.

I tried all of the solutions including changing Computer Name without reliable success. I have Windows 7 64-bit. The solution that so far has worked repeatedly is the following:

    1. Repair "Apple Mobile Device Support" in uninstall programs. Reboot PC and iPhone.

    2. Connect iPhone to power supply only.

    3. Open iTunes.

    4. Note: the iPhone wifi "Sync Now" button was grayed out at this time, even with iTunes open. However, your iPhone does show up on iTunes!

    5. On left side of iTunes you can see your iPhone, select Sync. After my sync, it showed that I had too much data stored on my iPhone. This is temporary and was resolved later automatically.

    6. Restart iTunes and your iPhone.

    7. It will take a few minutes for the iPhone to appear on your iTunes via WIFI so be patient.

    8. With the iPhone plugged into power only, you should now see the wifi "Sync Now" button. I didn't have to press the iPhone sync button because it automatically started to synch with iTunes, however the "Cancel Sync" button was working.

    9. After the sync, the correct amount of data stored on my iPhone showed up on iTunes. note: I performed 10 wifi syncs and they have all worked. I believe you have to do a wifi sync from iTunes to fix this problem, at least for PCs.

    Good luck!

I just found out that you have to change your computer name if it has a hypen in it.

This didn't work for me. I've tried every suggestion in this thread so far and non of them have worked. Hoping iTunes 11 will be the answer

Same here Skenzer. The quickest temp. fix for me, is to refresh the Time Capsule. Until I have to reboot computer it holds connection.

The set HostName solution worked for my iPad but not for the iPhone 4S, that are both running on iOS6.0.1. The only difference being I did a full restore for the iPad where as the iPhone 4S was migrated from iOS5.

Worth investigating further with a full restore.

Just an FYI. My brand new Iphone 5 which was set up as new has the same WIFI issues, so I don't believe a fresh restore is the answer.
