How to delete VIP Mailbox, iOS 6

How can you delete the VIP Mailbox from the mail screen on iOS 6? This VIP box is highly annoying and gets in the way of important other mailboxes. This seems like it would have to be configurable and not shoved down your throat by Apple as it really is a worthless feature.

Thanks in advance

OK. I really sympathize with those who don't want the VIP box and can't remove it. While I have not had this problem, my husband occasionally gets email that "ends up there" and he can't figure out why this happens. He has never configured it and never looks in it. Thus, he has missed a few really important meetings!! Any idea why some email would end up there?

Sorry, but this is not how the VIP box works.

His E-Mail is still in his Inbox and he did not miss any meetings due an E-Mail "ending up there". It's a "smart mailbox" that just highlights messages already in the Inbox based on certain criteria...in this case, a sender's address.

It does not move or delete any E-mails from the Inbox. If anything your husband would see the E-Mail in BOTH boxes. He has other issues with his E-Mail settings, delivery rules, or junk mail settings.

But the VIP box is NOT causing this.

Are you using an iPhone 5 or did you upgrade an existing phone?

On my iPhone 5, I can re-arrange the order of the mailboxes, including VIP.WHen in the Mailboxes view, tap the edit button. You should then see an icon on the rigght that looks like three bars. Touch and hold that and move up/down to rearrange the order. This works for me and "sticks" through power cycles.

I'm not the person above, but mine is an upgraded 3Gs and the VIP box is immovable, it just sits there below "inbox" (I only have one mail account, a gmail account, but with multiple labels shown on the iPad and iPhone, these all appear below the VIP "box").

Pressing "edit" only greys out the inbox & VIP "box", no movement possible

Hopefully an edit/turn VIP on/off function can be added to the next update.

@RyanEricW impolite behavior ("learn to read") is not warranted and not welcome here or elsewhere.

Regards the VIP issue, if you're like me the idea is okay; segregating communication from people in multiple mailboxes into a central, highlighted area--it's the default NOTIFICATION (hint hint) settings that are bothersome.

I have simply edited notification settings for the VIP mailbox to be nill and voila.

All you have to do to eliminate a name off of your VIP list is to simply do the opposite of placing one on there.

Click on the little star on the name of any email that is in your inbox that is already a VIP and it will disappear from the VIP list. I made the mistake of clicking the little star by accident a few times, only to find out that I have several unwanted "VIP's".

I agree. It's not really necessary for me. I put all my 'VIP's' in a file called 'friends'
