How do you delete songs in iOS 6 (finger swipe not working)
Since upgrading to iOS 6 deleting music isn't possible by swiping from left to right. How do you do this now?
iPhone 4S, iOS 6

Since upgrading to iOS 6 deleting music isn't possible by swiping from left to right. How do you do this now?
iPhone 4S, iOS 6
It took me a couple of days (yes, days) to download around 2000 songs from the Match servers and fill up my iPhone as I had it before. It's truly sad to realise that I'm now stuck with those 2000 songs (of my 12000 library). Whenever I want to add anything new, iOS will now start deleting things randomly (i.e. obviously not the way I would). This is so ridiculous, it took all the pleasure from using the service...
Also, while downloading the 2000 songs over the course of 2 days, I came upon a serious iOS 6 bug (or what seems like a bug). I have the "Use Cellular Data" setting to OFF, for obvious reasons, so I would expect it to pause all pending downloads whenever I left home and was out of the reach of my Wi-Fi network. Well, it did pause them, but for some strange reason something keeps working in the background, using the CPU in a permanent basis. The result - a complete and quick drain of my battery while I was away. Checking Settings-General-Usage confirmed that standby time and usage time was exactly the same (i.e. permanent usage) and it didn't go away after turning the iPhone OFF and back ON or even after doing a hard reset. It only stopped when all songs finally finished downloading. This is not good either!
So here we are and I haven't got much hope that this will change anytime soon. 😟
It would seem that one of the troublemakers here is found in "Settings / iTunes & App Stores". Toggle off automatic downloads and when you turn Match on again, it will not automatically reload everything you have deleted. Still doesn't work around having to turn off Match just to delete a single song unfortunately. Pain in the butt.
I had a similar problem. After getting Iphone5 I (obviously) had to redownload my music. I had about 2000 songs left to go and went to work- even when Use Cellular Data turned Off- it didn't stop ANY downloads thus using up all my data!
I did find a way of only downloading certain tracks from an album/artist. Download the whole album then stop all tracks you don't want. A pain in the arse but it worked.
BRING BACK SWIPE TO DELETE!!!
BRING BACK SWIPE TO DELETE!!!
Yes : MERCY !!!!!!!
I'm also very dissapointed. I don't want itunes to decide which songs are removed. I have also playlists for my kids and wife. They aren't played as often as my playlists. So this could mean, when i'm in the car with the family and they want to hear their playlist, it has been removed by itunes to make room for other songs!! I'm the one who will decide that, not iTunes!
What i'm also missing very much is the ability to download seperate songs, without having to play them.
This really *****! 😠😠😠
If this isn't going to be changed, I'll maybe going to switch to another musicplayer/profider service!
Hi,
Has somebody gotTim Cook's Mail ?
He would be glad to receive some kind suggestions 👿
I had to bump this thread because I can't believe how ridiculous it is that I can't delete music on my iPhone like I did in iOS 5. First five steps back with maps and now this debacle.
I can't help but think that Apple is on a downward slide since Mr. Jobs is gone. Very dissatisfied to this point.
Yep, miss the cloud icons, too. Hopefully they bring them back!
Apple really has to bring it back. You can delete single podcasts in the podcasts.app. So why not titles in the music.app?
Hi,
It "MIGHT" be as photo stream at the begening : it was not possible to remove a signe photo as it is now.
OK : Apple (as with Plan app.) did a very slapdash job with iTune Match (since the beginning).
What I say is :
When will they admit and apologize (as with Plan app.) ?
2) When will the improveand correxct iTunes match and iTune for iOS ?
Don't you think ?
One way to delete songs with iTunes match : Delete it from iCloud in iTunes (be shure to have a copy of the album).
When it is deleted from iCloud, the album will disapear from the iOS device.
Put the copy back in iTunes and it will be available again.
Hi
you need to disable "itunes match" feature at your device and after that you can delete the music that you want by swiping left. It works in my case.
But generally this recent change is unacceptable !!!
BRING BACK SWIPE TO DELETE; EVERYTIME!!!
best regards!
Relieved to find its not just me, have this hassle on my iPhone and iPad. All made worse by their recent explicit matching screw-up. Loads of explicit tracks were matched to "clean" ones,Lots of Apple apologies, some iTunes credits and the hassle of re-importing and my collection is almost fixed.
So now I have an explicit track in the cloud and on my PC, but clean versions on iPhone and iPad. And as I can't deleted them and force a download I have no way of fixing it. Turning iMatch on and off doesn't work - so I can only stream the "clean" version unless I'm at my PC. WFT?.
Going back to iOS5 is very tempting...
PS: In case anyone is interested, it's "The Modern World" by The Jam
You can also delete ALL the songs downloaded by iTunes Match and start from scratch as follows:
Go to Settings-> General-> Usage and wait for it to update the space usage.
Tap the Music item and tap Edit.
Then tap the Delete control, Delete button and Done button.
i found a *BAD* way to do it, requires an iq of 100<
1 ssh to users/media/itunes_control
2 look for the album/song cover
3 delete
FOR SSH USE
