I think it best to see what Apple's next move is. As an Apple user the reason I select their product is that I don't have to fiddle with the operating system to make applications work. It seems Apple is taking its cue from PC.
Problem resolved...thanks! Does this date thing apply to any other troubleshooting? I would never have known about it!

Yesterday I updated my iPhone 4S to IOS 6. but whenever I try to access my App store from the Passbook I always get this error "Cannot connect to iTunes store". And I'v also tried several times to set the date 1 year ahead with restarting my iPhone but it stills shows the same error. APPLE PLEASE HELP ME!!!
Passbook isn't doing anything for me. Then again, I don't use Walgreens, target or Lufthansa. So I guess I'll wait for other apps and see if it magically works (doubt it) and deal with the battery drain, jacked up maps, constant prompts for passwords, and all the other great benefits of ios6.
Great stuff! Thanx.
Here is what worked for me
settings > general > date & time > set automaticaly OFF > set time & date
> set year to 2036
go back to settings
open APP STORE (not PASSBOOK): you should get the error message
settings > general > date & time > set automaticaly ON
go back to settings
open PASSBOOK > clck app store
GOOD LUCK!!!

that worked for me...thanks a lot.
Me too! Thanks!
This is a fix and it gets Passbook to work.
Download the SEPHORA TO GO app, sing up.
At the top will see the add to PASSBOOK button.
Once you singed up and click on the button, open PASSBOOK.
It's work on all of my friends phones
This worked for me. Thank you!
finally something that works
worked for me thanks
I found the year-ahead fix on a NY Times blog yesterday but it didn't work for me after repeated tries. I then tried the month-ahead fix per this forum. No go. Then, I got an idea to combine both fixes and moved my time ahead 1 year plus a month. I then closed both Passbook and App Store apps (double click home button, hold down app, tap minus symbol). This worked!! Finally!
BTW, be sure to turn your iMessage back on after this and all of these fixes; for some reason fooling around with the date/time setting switches iMessage off. Some helpful commenter on another blog mentioned this or I would never have thought this would happen.
Good luck.
My phone had this issue along with the slow app store yesterday. Today it appears to be fixed: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/4328485
This worked for me.
