Hi Depmode668,
Can you just confirm whether you updated via iTunes or OTA?
Matt
Please provide more details. You say the install kind of failed. Did you remove the phone, reboot and reconnect to your PC?
itunes, newest version
yes, I reboot, reinstalled itunes, everything. The phone and itouch both show only the "connect to itunes" symbol. NOthing works anymore
Ok... When you were update and the phone rebooted. did anything happen to the iPhone.. Can you explain exactly what happened during the update so i can get a better understanding 🙂
the windows 7 computer doesn't even see the devises anymore. it seems like all the drivers are gone. Even if I go to a different computer, same problem
It can take an hour or more to install. See this post: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/4310278
the computer said "I'm installing the new software on device" or so. Devise turned black and and seemed like to reboot. Suddenly, it said on computer screen "updated failed". That's all I know. I didn't watch it the whole time
can you reboot phone? and possibly the computer...while not connected to eachother then retry. This is just a suggestion -look up DFU mode- may need to start from there. I have not done that-only a possibility...
If it still has the connect to Itunes logo on your iphone you will be fine. Just connect your iphone, go to itunes, select your iphone and click on restore. Let it do it's stuff after that
This gives me hope:-).Maybe I just have to be patient?!
I cannot reboot phone or itouch! They are both stuck! What is DFU mode?
I'll try that. I think I will reinstall itunes one more time. Also, I'll try to restore. Hopefully it will work.
DFU means Device Firmware Update. If a restore using Recovery Mode doesn't work you will want to use DFU Mode as a last resort. When placing your iPhone into DFU Mode it does not load the OS before attempting the restore
ok, its working:-). What I did? I plugged my iphone in recovery mode into my husbands computer. My phone is not linked to it. His computer realised my iphone and I was able to recover it! It's working fine now. However, this should never happend. What a hassle!
