iOS 6 Music Not Really There

I was having the iTunes/Music problem similsr to those mentioned by several posters. I did'nt read through all the posts since I wanted an immediate fix. So I called Apple and my problem was quickly resolved. I was asked to go to "Settings", "General", "Reset", "reset Network Settings". After the reset and logging back into my network, eveything was working OK. Your "mileage may vary". Good luck.

I've had that happen to me before I upgraded. Not sure why, but it just started to paly up one day, and never got fixed. I ended up having to redownlaod the songs and put them back through iTunes again.

Here's How I fixed it on my "new Ipad". After updating to IOS 6, I would open music and get the icloud symbol with a progress bar that wouldn't move.

- Synced and backed up the Ipad with Itunes Match Turned off prior to backup

- then did a factory restore to default settings

- Once it was blanked to factory settings, I did a restore to the backup that I created earlier

- When completed, turned on Itunes Match, I got the icloud symbol but the progress bar immediately started moving. Music app started working like normal.

It took all afternoon - 4/5 hours of total time to complete, but everythings back to normal now.

This totally fixed it for me. Deleted these files and while the syncing took forever (19k songs), it totally worked. I should mention that Music froze and I thought all was lost, but then I restarted it and all my stuff was there. Stoked.

Note: I also had reset my network stuff.

Happening to me as well. Huge fail Apple... its too bad you promote your products as being so flawless.

Resetting network settings did nothing for me, and I've been trying to re-sync / shut off iTunes Match all day to no avail.

Hopefully a fix comes soon. I I wanted to try to fix my stuff all the time I'd use Android or Windows Phone.

Deleting the files worked for me except using DiskAid (free). For some reason iExplorer wouldn't delete the files.

1) Turn off iTunes Match on iPhone and in iTunes

2. Download DiskAid, connect iPhone, open DiskAid

3. Navigate to iPhone\Media\iTunes_Control\iTunes

4. Deleted the following 3 files:

MediaLibrary.sqllitedb

MediaLibrary.sqllitedb-shm

MediaLibrary.sqllitedb-wal

5. Eject iPhone & quit program

6. Performed a hard reboot on my iPhone (home button + sleep/wake button, hold until you see the apple logo)

7. Connect iPhone to computer/iTunes and re-start iTunes Match

8. Go into iPhone settings and turn on iTunes Match

9. Went back into Music, the Cloud icon now showed a quickly moving blue bar under it and my music has been restored.

10. If you still don't see all your music, open the Music app in iPhone, tap More on the bottome left, select Shared and choose your iCloud library.

THANK YOU! I've been reading posts for hours and nothing worked - thanks for explicitly listing out the steps to fix it - it worked! Only difference is I used i-FunBox to remove the files but following your steps worked like a charm.

I also had success after deleting the three media library files as noted in several posts above. After restarting Music it took several minutes before the Cloud bar started moving so be a bit patient. Note that Itunes Match works differently under IO6 with default streaming instead of downloading. Thus, the wiping out of the music files that were formally on my device is probably a "feature" not a flaw. For further info there are numerous sites on the web that discuss the different method of operation under IO6.

1. Delete these files (you can backup them first just for sure):

iTunes_Control\iTunes\MediaLibrary.sqllitedb

iTunes_Control\iTunes\MediaLibrary.sqllitedb-shm

iTunes_Control\iTunes\MediaLibrary.sqllitedb-wal

2. Restart your phone.

After this operation all my music plays, but online from iCloud, phone can't see 25GB of music stored in the phone memory. It is important to get the memory back. I achieved it in this way:

1. Download a few songs from iCloud (don't forget to turn on iTunes Match)

2. Go to Settings->General->Usage

Now you will see the application Music in the list with just those few megabytes of downloaded music.

3. Tap on the Music icon, Edit and Delete all the music.

Now you should have your well paid phone memory available.

If the memory isn't released yet then:

1.Turn off iTunes Match.

2.Restart your phone.

3.Turn on iTunes Match.

Having the same issues as title.

I have updated to ios 6 for my 4s and now there is no music when syncing my music.

It only shows the playlist name no music.

when I tap playlist title/edit/add/done it shows that my music is still there but, I can only delete them?

Can you mix Mp4 video clips with Mp3 files? This was fine before I updated to the IOS 6.

I have the same problem. Playlist titles, artist names, album titles show up, but there are no songs in any of them. No podcasts either. I have phone set for WiFi sync, but I also tried a manual sync of some playlists and podcasts. Itunes went through the motions of the sync with no errors, but still nothing on the phone. Tried turning WiFi sync off, toggling itunes match, show all music, etc. Even tried a soft restore (reset?). How ridiculous for Apple to release an unpdate with such a major issue. The word 'bug' seems too small to describe this...

I am working on a PC trying to recover media after iOS 6 in Music. Where are the 3 files that need to be deleted - in the iPhone or in Music>iTunes section on my PC?
