iOS 6 Music Not Really There

I have updated successfully to iOS 6 on an iPhone 4.

After restoring the backed up iPhone I happily found my music now on the phone. However, not all the music is actually on the phone. It skips between songs that it cannot find.

I am a member of iTunes match but the ability to download the 'missing' music is not present on any of the skipped tracks.

This is incredibly annoying. Has anybody else experienced the same and if so, have you found a solution?

Hi all,

I just upgraded to iOS 6 and I'm having the same issue with corrupt files. My music is "there" but more than half of the songs on my phone will skip to the next playable song when i go to play them. I don't have iTunes match and have manually synced my music for the longest time. I would just swipe the music from my phone and reload it from my computer but due to space constraints, I have hand picked music for my phone and have considerably more on my computer (24 gb on computer v. 16 gb on phone). Is there a way I can fix this without having to manually reload all of the songs?

Thanks so much!

I had the same problem with trying to delete the three library files using iexplorer - the status bar on the bottom right would run and run, but the files would not delete. Can you detail exactly what type of restore you did? Was it via itunes, or on the phone itself? Did you back up first? Step by step instructions would be greatly appreciated!!

I made sure iCloud on my iPhone was backed up. Just go to settings and then iCloud. At the bottom said backup and storage. I made sure it was today's date. The I plugged my iPhone into my laptop, pulled up iTunes. Instead of sync I hit restore. It did the rest. Took about 2 hours. When I updated to iOS6 I did not have the latest iTunes installed. I upgraded before doing the restore. I wonder if that was part of the problem. It removed my corrupted files also. Hope that helps.

So did all your previously downloaded Apps come down from icloud as well? Or just your contacts, calendar, etc? I am tempted to do this (have the no music, no podcast issue after iOS 6 update), but don't want to lose all my carefully organized Apps. Keep thinking Apple will post a fix for this, but they have been silent despite the ubiquity of this problem.

I have a 4S, and everything was working fine until I synced my phone with iTunes on my computer. Now half of my music won't play and the other half that does will play the wrong thing. For example, if I click on "Help!" nothing will play, but if I then click on "Strawberry Fields Forever," Help!" will play. Then, if I click on "I Want to Hold Your Hand," "Strawberry Fields Forever" will play. I'm not sure if this is a pattern or just a coincidence. I really don't know what to do.

@heathjez:

Everything gets restored as to how you left your iPhone - accounts, apps, files, settings, wallpapers, photos, etc. Restore will keep iOS6 on it with the apps how you left them (mine kept progress on games or remembered individual app settings). After the restore, you will have no music on you phone and will have to redownload from iMatch.

Hello!

I seem to be in the same situation as you. Unlike everybody else, I do not use IMatch, so I can not delete those three files everybody talkes about. I also handles my music manually since I have far more music in my PC than I can have in my telephone. After IOS6
I can not delete my music from the telephone but it´s gone from the ITunes library. Incredible annoying! I can not add music either. A message appears in the phone that says the memory is nearly full. I have tried with USB and WiFi, no diffrence. Have you had any succes?

Complete back up and total restore was the only thing that worked for me. Nightmare worst case scenario if you ask me. This update is the worst experience to date and for what a crispy map app that ill disregard as soon as the Google Maps app is ready and approved? Lame. Second guessing almost everything Apple does for the first time in my life. I hope things turn around soon.

Thank you for all the posts and help offered here.
