iOS 6 Music Not Really There

When you click on the restore button in iTunes, io6 starts downloading (AGAIN). It's pretty much a clean uninstall/reinstall of the ios. There is no need to revert back to io5. Once the process is done, you'll either need to re-add your music or iTunes Match will start syncing up again. That will depend on if you want iTunes match on before the restore.

Folks, before doing a complete restore try a soft reset by holding home and lock buttons for a few seconds (until the iPhone restarts). This worked for me - whereas straight after upgrading to iOS 6 when I had none of my music appear or a crashed cloud icon, after the soft reset all my music lists appeared (though everything needs to be downloaded from the cloud again:(

I ned to try it when I get home. Seems like a better option than a restore. I have tried toggling on/off the match, seeting musci to sync over wifi on & off to no avail. My husband an I both have this problem. Both with iPhone 4 afer installing iOS 6 yesterday. I will post later if it works for me.

Same issue here. Not a single song on my iPhone after iOS6 and I cant get iCloud to resend any of my songs down. I sometimes get my playlist, but all are empty. UGH!

Music was coming to IPad and IPhone by way of my PC ITunes. Once I closed down ITunes back to a world without song.

I didn't read all the posts to see if this had been posted yet, so forgive any redundancies...

I had been wanting to reset my iPhone 4S for some time now anyway, but after having almost identical issues to Fabin above with "Not a single song on my iPhone after iOS6 and I cant get iCloud to resend any of my songs down. I sometimes get my playlist, but all are empty. UGH! " and my 64gb iPhone 4S had >42gb of space not assigned to songs, but unavailable on the iPhone at all...

I went into Systems Preferences>General>Reset option and bit the bullet and did the "Erase All Content and Settings" option.

The good news is that it restarted with iOS 6 installed (and prompts you as if the iPhone is just out of the box) with just the basic applications. After filling in my iCloud ID, it brought down all my Notes, Calendar, Reminders and Mail. All the newly downloaded applications have the "New" sash overlay on the application icons.

The best part is that I can get into iTunes and download any songs or all by any artists that I want. I was even streaming at my work desk a song right from the Music application without any hiccups or interruptions.

My iPhone may or may not respond faster, but it does SEEM faster since I did the full reset. I am glad I did it as I had been wanting to revisit which apps I had on my iPhone and which music I had stored (>42gb) that I still wanted taking up space.

You might give it some thought if you are in the same boat after upgrading to iOS 6.

Found a solution - nothing worked until this:

1) Turn off iTunes Match (it took me 3 tries to get it to stick - it kept going ot ON when I would go back into settings). This was critical - it had to be off or this wont work.

2. Download iExploer, connect iPhone, open iExplorer

3. navigated to iPhone\Media\iTunes_Control\iTunes

4. Deleted the following 3 files:

MediaLibrary.sqllitedb

MediaLibrary.sqllitedb-shm

MediaLibrary.sqllitedb-wal

5. Deleted ALL of the playlist shown in that folder. I have about 12 playlist, over 100 were listed.

6. Performed a hard reboot on my iPhone (home button + sleep/wake button, hold until you see the apple logo)

7. Opened Music, went into iTunes and downloaded a free song. Waited for it to download, verified it was there (the only song listed)

8. Went into settings and turned on iTunes Match.

9. Went back into Music, the Cloud icon now showed a quickly moving blue bar under it and my music has been restored.

I did this on 2 devices and both are working. I'm wondering if it's a playlist issue on the phone. Good Luck everyone!

I turned off Match in iTunes and now my iTunes library is missing all the music after I turned it back on. Just a cloud icon in motion. So now both my iTunes and iPhone 4 have ZERO music! Am I missing something here, aren't my PC where iTunes lives and my iPhone 4 indepedently connected to the Match?

This really is the most disappointing thing I've ever experienced with Apple.

My iPhone 5 should be here tomorrow and I'm wondering if now that iTunes shows no music if I will have the same problem getting the 5 to play and show music?

I just tried to do a restore and received an error saying that my iPhone is "not eligible for the requested build." So right now, I have no music, and 9 GB of "Other" data (which is a sign of corrupt data). Apple - with all of the other problems I've had w/ iTunes Match, you are close to losing a customer. And when I say lose a customer - I mean the whole ecosystem for me, and my family. Because once one domino falls, they all fall. If I get another phone that needs a Windows PC, then that will start a chain reaction that won't stop until it is all gone. And that is too bad, but that's how I feel right now. If the iTunes Match problems were limited to just Match - that would be one thing - but that is sadly not the case.

Has anyone else had luck using my very simple method of just soft-resetting via holding down home and lock buttons? This worked for me, and avoided the hassles of a full restore and any of the other convoluted methods mentioned.

Quick question: Can I just set up iPhone 5 without a PC with iTunes. My iTunes is not showing my Cloud music???

This worked! I didn't need to delete all the playlists though. Just the three files.

Much easier and quicker than restore. used Demo iExplorer.

So far so good.
