I went to the Apple Store and they resent network settings as mentioned, and it fixed the problem.
I had the same problem and managed to fix it. After trying switching off and reset router what worked was connecting to the iPad with my iPhone using the personal hotspot. After that the regular wifi started working.
I did a sync pluging the iPad with USB and fixed the problem
What worked for me was to change the proxy configuration of my network to auto. Go to Settings | Wi-Fi and click the blue arrow next to your network. The http proxy can be changed. Select Auto and join the network. Worked instantly for me.
Hope this helps!

I upgraded to ios 6 yesterday on my ipad 2. Immediately after the ipad would not detect ANY wifi networks. Nothing was "greyed out"--there was simply nothing being detected. Clearly it's a software issue, as there was no hardware damage in the 10 minutes it took to update the ipad through itunes.
I've tried everything: reset network setting, turning ipad on/off (not sleep), reset safari, cleared all data, changed security/channels on wifi router, etc... NOTHING fixes this software problem. So, until Apple gets around to rolling out a software update, I expect I will have no wifi on my ipad.
Thank you. It worked for me
