keyboard shortcuts no longer work after upgrade to ios 6

this safari trick worked for me too. Not sure if its temporary or not.

I tried every solution described. All I have now is shortcuts overwriten locally by iCloud copy of them synchronised before turning off/on iCloud Documents. They still do not work.

I think iOS6 needs a fix. We need a fix to work with shortcuts.

I have found that the following worked:

• Settings
• Keyboard
• turn off ALL options
• Soft Reset (holding down Home and Power buttons together)
• Power on
• Turn on desired keyboard options

.....keyboard shortcuts fully functional again

I also tried hard reset, re-saving shortcuts,shutting off auto-correct...none of these worked. Going into Safari andclearing my Auto-fill worked!! Thank You 🙂

This is what I did step by step and it worked like a charm... I had an iPhone 4 when I did this a few days ago. I have documents and data ON in iCloud...

1. write down or take screenshots of all existing shortcuts

2. delete all shortcuts

3. backup to iCloud (I think this clears all shortcuts you have stored in iCloud)

4. go back to settings-->general-->keyboard... You may notice one or a few generic shortcuts pop up on their own. The one that popped up for me was OMW (on my way)

5. re enter all of your shortcuts and phrases

6. when done, back up again to iCloud (stores your new shortcuts)

I restarted my phone. Shortcuts still worked. I just got a 4S and restored from the iCloud backup mentioned in step 6 and my shortcuts worked on my new phone.

I didnt have to reset all my settings. I went trough all the other steps, and at first it didn't seem to work. It crashed when I deleted a shortcut. Then I closed the settings-app completely (dobble-click home-button and quit). When I relaunched, I changed one of the shortcuts. Then I could delete, change and add new ones without troubble 🙂

The problem is I cannot save my shortcuts. After creating them and backing to general settings they disappear. I did reset ma device.

Looks like apple is going M$ way when Windows are behaveing different ways on the PCs configured in the same way :-(

Mine does this every 3-4 days. The only think I have to do to fix it is to do a hard reset (hold home and power button down until it turns off and the back on) but I don't know how to completely fix the problem.. Like I said it happens every few days. Hope this helps!

Turning that iCloud function worked for me, but when I run it on again shortcuts stop working...

Any clue?

I too had shut mine down and restarted, and one time that miraculously fixed this problem. But a few days later, the same. This time, I simply went into settings, turned the shortcut feature "off" and then "on" again, and it seemed to reset it somehow. Today it is working. We will see for tomorrow!
