Wifi not working on IOS 6

Just updated to IOS 6 and everytime I connect to a local wifi safari opens up with the apple website, then fails to connect. Anyone else have this problem?

I run a number of wifi hotspots, all of which use a captive portal "Splash Page" that is branded per location.

Since the iOS6 update I have been swamped with guests and customers complaining about this www.apple.com "success" page popping up instead of the intended customers login and terms acceptance page. When cancelling it drops the wifi router connection and there is no way to connect to the intended free wifi hotspot.

The problem is in Apple's update, there currently is no way to disable this unwanted feature.

The solution is to go to your Settings>General>Cellular>Cellular Data and turn it OFF when you are at the hotspot location.

Now when you choose the hotspot's SSID and join it......you will get the sign in page from the captive portal and not the "success" page.

Be sure and turn the Cellular Data back on.....when you leave the hotspot.

Apple needs to fix this WISPr function, I am only a small provider and I am sure that worldwide there are going to be hundreds of thousands of iphone, ipad and laptop users who will no longer be able to sign on at wifi hotspots, work, universities, hospitals and hotels.

As a side note: I have an older 4S phone with iOS6 and I cannot join.....my wife has a newer 4S phone with iOS6 installed and even though both our phones are set exactly the same......she can connect without turning off her cellular data and I cannot. Curious?

One option I have seen in other articles that seems to have helped is to assign a static IP address to your device within your router. Perhaps setting a static IP on the iPhone would work as well. So it could be DHCP is not behaving well with certain routers.

Also if the encryption on your router is WPA2 AES could be a problem. If change to WPA2 TKIP it may help as well. See article below:

I have DLINK DIR-655 and have had no issues with 4 different iPhone 4s devices. Maybe the above options are worth a shot until Apple resolves this issue.

This is nonsense.... everything was working fine on my iPad 2 until I completed the IOS 6 upgrade.

I can not connect to WIFI even though it can find networks it just won't connect. Tried hotspot from my phone and same issue. Can not sync my apps now through iTunes as it says it can't recognize the apps on the device.

After spending hours trying everything that I can possibly see on the internet to do, I have yet to see a response from Apple on this. They are quick to present a service agreement to me at a cost that I don't feel I should have to pay.

I'm getting disgusted with Apple. Come use our products but don't ask us for support!

That does not work on network/enterprise wifi (like work). My iPhone 4 works fine on my home wifi but will not hold a connection at work. Autojoin works for a bit and then resets itself, deselecting auto-join and forcing you to rejoin the network with user name and password. I see that LOTS of other people are having this same problem.
