iOS 6 WiFi option is GREYED OUT (unrelated to iOS 6 WiFi connectivity issues)

As reported in an earlier thread, since upgrading iPhone 4S from 5.1.1 to 6, the WiFi option is turned OFF and is greyed out/disabled. Have tried all combinations of hard/soft reboots, router resets, network settings reset, cleared cookies, etc. Nothing. The WiFi option is completely disabled.

WiFi worked fine prior to iOS 6. Now I can't turn it on. My wife's WiFi is fine, she can toggle on/off and hasn't had any other connectivity issues as reported by others.

It is ture. After steve job died the condition of apple is becoming like microsoft. The IOS6 which my other friend had on his cell are full of Buttons and MAIL VIP bla bla bla . apps after app.

I also bought 64Gb Iphone 4 s black and updated to IOS 6 for 5.1.1, BOOM the IOS6 disabled the wifi Button, cant do anything with it now, WHY they even release these software when they are not sure if it is gone work or not. Looks like they are treating our phones as Labotory MOUSE, they dont understand that this cause so many people so much then what they can imagine. I lost my contacts (OH yeah some would say Backup and all ********). The only way i come out if this WIFI trouble was i have to roll back to old version 5.1.1 and the wifi is working back again. but as my system had backup of 20 days old so inbetween all other things i lost. I am so annoyed and anry with this attitude of apple that i literally want to throw away all their gadgets i bought. Cause of their disgust IOS6 they keep me trapped behind computer for almost half day. *****!! i am sitting with IOS5.1.1 as i am afraid to upgrade to IOS6 . APPLE DONT BECOME APPLE SO I CAN EAT be just LOGO thats look nice.

I have had the same problem with the upgrade. My phone is an iPhone 4s Black 64Gb Model: MD257X

Has everyone else got the same model of phone or is problem on other devices as well?

Has anyone got a reply from Apple?

Unfortunately this was the only thing that worked for me http://www.idownloadblog.com/2012/06/20/how-to-downgrade-ios-6-beta-to-ios-5-1-1 /
If wifi is greyed out in settings screen the hardware has died. There is not any troubleshooting that will fix it. Automatically needs repair. Usually was broken by someone dropping it or getting it wet.
This can not be possible for me. I just got a Verizon 4s on Sunday after waiting forever to get an iphone. 16g model A1387. Has not been dropped or wet. In fact, I hardly even touch it for fear of getting fingerprints on since I don't have my case yet. I have an ipod touch so I'm not new to apple products.

I "upgraded" on Thursday. Got the same thing as the screenshot above shows. Figured out how to downgrade to 5.1.1. Did that and got "Wifi not available" where the Off label is. Prior to doing this I tried every remedy suggested,

Took it back to Verizon. They upgraded to 6, toggle greyed out. He called Apple. They said they are aware of the issue and to try turning it off in a couple of hours and then back on again - yeah right.

Told him I'd try it but if it wasn't working I was coming back for a new phone.

The whole thing is ridiculous. At least tell us that they're working on the issue - communication is key and we get none. I'm ready to go back to my dumb phone.

Mr. Hodge, this line is of particular interest to me:

In the second instance the issue SHOULD be fixed by Apple in a future iOS update, though the fact they've known about this bug since June and haven't bothered fixing it yet shows you how low a priority this is so don't hold your breath for iOS 6.0.1 to come out tomorrow.

What proof do you have that Apple knew about the Wi-Fi disable issue???

So, I've been on the phone with Apple Care the third time now. They made me jump through some more hoops (restoring with another user account for example), sending screen shots and so on. I've asked for a replacement but she said the engineers still want to look into it and maybe even at my particular phone. So I told her they can look at it all day long when I pass it over the counter of the nearest Apple Store for my replacement. We'll see how this plays out. I'm not willing to take this any longer than beginning of next week.

Right now my iPhone is a 750€ brick with extended warranty coverage. Unacceptable.

I'd probably bring my phone into an Apple store to let a "Genius" try and fix it too IF:

1. It were convenient. Both in location and the fact that today is iPhone 5 launch day. An Apple retail store is the last place on earth I'd want to be on launch day.

2. I thought that the "Genius" folks knew a solution to this problem anymore than I do. It's clear that they have no clue.
