bluetooth music issues after iOS6 update

Ok, i just updated to iOS6 today. I jump in my car to drive home, and now my radio ( pioneer svh-p3400BH) no longer shows any sont info when bluetooth streaming. I used to get artist, album, and song info. Also, when i connect it via USB, i no longer get genra infr ( pop/rock, classical, ect).

Any ideas? if this a firmware on Pioneers side, or is the blue tooth messed up in iOS6?

Yeah, my attempt to downgrade my 4S just failed. This is so depressing. "device not eligible for this build".

AVH-P2400BT / iPhone 4S

Features lost include artist, song, etc. info. It used to start playing where it left off regardless of whether I was using Pandora, Rdio, etc. One thing I noticed too is even plugged in USB, I don't get track information. I bought the stereo less than 2 months ago. I really hope one side or the other will fix this.

No, I didn't actually.

To be fair, I didn't experience any of the issues other people have had with iOS 6 (bad wifi, for example). Honestly I don't think resetting all the settings will do any good. There's too many people with way too many different models of car radios (stock and aftermarket) experiencing the exact same issues. I doubt that the missing piece of the Bluetooth puzzle will somehow get into place by doing a reset of everything.

It's been a couple days now that I have had this problem but Over time it has actually fixed itself.

Bluetooth headset: Beats wireless

Phone: iPhone 4S

Applied IOS 6 update

First couple times of connection I had all the same problems but my iPhone now seems to be connecting without any flaws whatsoever.

I'm not sure how it fixed itself but maybe it just needs time to learn the device after applying the IOS 6 update.

I too am seeing problems with Bluetooth AVRCP controls on my Pioneer AVH-P2400BT. I am able to stream to the stereo, but not control (play/pause/forward/back) nor see album information on the stereo. I first started noticing this problem with my new iPhone 5 on iOS 6. I have not tested whether or not my old iPhone 4 is affected, but based on other people's posts, I am pretty sure it is affected as well.

What is interesting is that my Pioneer DEH-P7100BT (a few years old and in another car) still has all the same functionality it did with my iPhone 4 on iOS 5. Based on the functionality of that stereo and the description of AVRCP on Wikipedia I believe that stereo implemented v1.0 of AVRCP (i.e. no track information but just basic control).

On the otherhand the AVH-P2400BT stereo had all the functionality mentioned for v1.3 of AVRCP.

And the change that happened in iOS 6 was that they implemented v1.4 of AVRCP (this is based off what I have read in forums. I cannot find any official source saying that iOS 6 implements AVRCP v1.4).

Although I am not very familiar with the implementation details of AVRCP it looks like one of the following is the root cause:

1 - The newer pioneer radios (AVH-P2400BT and the like) are attempting to connect via v1.4 even though 1.4 wasn't fully implemented/tested on them, and thus the control functionality is not working.

2 - iOS 6 has some type of backwards compatibility issue with AVRCP v1.3 (since that issue is clearly not existent with v1.0 on my older Pioneer stereo).

Can anybody else confirm that they are able to connect to an AVRCP v1.0 device with an iOS device running iOS 6?

Hopefully if we gather enough troubleshooting information for Apple (who is hopefully reading this LARGE thread), they will be able to determine if it is an issue on their end and fix it if it is.

On the otherhand it if the issue is with Pioneer/other stereo manufacturers something tells me it will take longer for a fix (although I could be wrong about that too...)

In both, my 2012 Subaru WRX and 2012 Subaru Impreza, the bluetooth connects and works fine, it just no longer automatically connects like it did with the 5.1.1, my 4S with iOS6 and my 5 have the same issues. Do you guys think this would be part of this issue? It is really annoying having to go into the bluetooth settings and connect it every time I get in the car, but I guess I am lucky it does work, and show the artist and everything atleast.

I ran into this problem with my 4S and my 2011 Subaru's stereo w/ BT audio streaming, but it didn't happen right away. It happened to me about a week after upgrading to iOS 6, and I'm not sure exactly what caused it. One day, the display on the stereo just said 'STOP' instead of the track, artist, etc. Music would still play, and the iPhone would respond to the track skip buttons, but it woudn't automatically resume playing when the car was started, nor would it automatically play the next track; it would just stop until I hit the 'next track' button on the iPhone itself. Rebooting the phone didn't help, and neither did re-pairing it with the car stereo.

I did find a workaround, though, and it's pretty simple: I rebooted my iPhone, and when it came back up, I force-closed the music app. I then turned on the car & allowed the stereo to connect to the iPhone. At that point, the stereo still showed 'STOP', but when I manually launched the music app and started playing songs, everything started working normally again. Track listings displayed on the stereo properly, and the iPhone would avance songs automatically again. So far, I've only had to do this once.

This stinks to me more of a bug in the music app than the Bluetooth stack, as other apps that play through BT audio don't seem to be affected.

just so we can add to this number, and hopefully get a response from Apple...

I have a 12 plate 320D, with professional media cetre, which would fine with Ipphone 4s on ios 5. Upgraded the phone to ios 6, and now i can't even sync the two devices. the BMW device shows, but when i click to connect, it times out completely.

Apple, you are very quick to change things, and then market it as the next best thing, or should i say... the best we've ever done... well to be honest, this isnt' that great is it?

Shocking.
