Mac Pro hosed from 10.8.2

I just installed the 10.8.2 upgrade on my Mac Pro and now when I boot I get a messed up screen, see attached. I can access the shared drives, except none of the drives attached to my eSATA cards are showing.

I can't access the system through Screen Sharing, just never connects.

Anyone else having any problems similar to this?

Did it NOT work with 64GB, or did you just try it with 48GB and not 64GB?

Given that Apple seems to officially support only 64GB of ram (that's the max they offer on new Mac Pro's at least, I'm not sure what their official policy is) I suppose those of us running with more are somewhat flirting with disaster; perhaps there is a good reason Apple doesn't officially support more.

Got it. One clarification though, is there any need to distinguish between how much memory is in the system when the upgrade is done and that which is installed AFTER the upgrade is complete? From what I can tell, you did the upgrade to 10.8.2 with 48GB installed and then installed memory afterwards. I am wondering if you tried to upgrade with 80GB it would it cause problems. If you have the problem at boot time immediately after changing from 80GB to 96GB, I would guess we can upgrade with 80GB just fine.

To clarify it : I don`t know !

- I upgraded from 10.8.1 with the Combo Update to 10.8.2 with 48 GB installed (i wanted to be <64GB but that was just a try)

- After everything worked fine, i added more memory: First 64GB, then 80 GB, and finally 96GB.

It worked with EVERY configuration EXCEPT 96 GB (6x 16 GB) - and no, the memory is NOT defective at all.

That`s what I did. You can TRY it with 80 GB DIRECTLY - but I didn`t test that way, but in theory it should work, to be sure you might update with 48GB and upgrade then to 80GB.

IN the end you can try yourself adding more ram to 96 if it works for you (i would be strongly interested as it doesn`t work here).

Hope this helps.

cheers Alex
