No 3G or EDGE signal after upgrading to iOS 6

Since I upgraded my iPhone 4 to iOS 6 last night, my phone steadfastly refuses to find any 3G or EDGE data signals. It's not a problem with my provider (Orange Jordan) becasue I checked my wife's iPhone 4 still on 5.1.1 and she's fine. I've rebooted the phone, I've repeatedly turned cell data and 3G off and on, and I even turned off automatic carrier detection, but none of it will return my 3G or EDGE signal.

I'm at my wit's end. Somebody please help!

When you are in SETTINGS - CELLULAR you can see three options you can turn OFF

- Cellular Data

- Enable 3G

- Data Roaming

Turn these OFF

Now scroll down to CELLULAR DATA NETWORK and click it

Here you see your Cellular Data, MMS and Internet Tethering settings..

Scroll down.. you see now RESET SETTINGS

Click it and CONFIRM

Now you back up (one level back) to SETTINGS - CELLULAR

You see:

- Cellular Data - OFF

- Enable 3G - OFF

- Data Roaming - OFF

Turn these ON now.

Done!

Here is another thing you can try..

It involves downgrading to 5.1.1 first.. for that you need to download the iOS 5.1.1 IPSW

If you have an iPhone 4S, then get this: http://appldnld.apple.com/iOS5.1.1/041-4346.20120427.1RuDG/iPhone4,1_5.1.1_9B206 _Restore.ipsw

If you have an iPhone 4 (GSM) then use this: http://appldnld.apple.com/iOS5.1.1/041-4293.20120427.3DRyb/iPhone3,1_5.1.1_9B206 _Restore.ipsw

Then follow these instructions:

  1. Turn the device off, connect it to the computer via USB, and launch iTunes
  2. Place the iPhone into DFU MODE: with the device off, hold down the Power and Home buttons together for 10 seconds then release the power button, continue holding Home button until iTunes notifies you of a device in recovery mode being detected. The devices screen should stay black as if turned off.
  3. Restore to iOS 5.1.1 IPSW by Option-Clicking (Option Key for Mac's, I believe ALT key for PC) the “Restore” button. You should get a pop up to choose which IPSW to load.

When you done that.. check if you have 3G again.. when you do.. (yea!) then repeat my instructions for iOS6 and let me know if that works for you.
