mac os x 10.7.5 crashes photoshop cs4
I upgraded to 10.7.5 and photoshop cs4 crashes on startup! Everything worked fine on 10.7.4. Has anyone else had problems with adobe cs4 products and this upgrade?

Hi Dennis
Jep, i had the same problem! OSX 10.7.5 and Phtoshop CS4.
After checking the Error-Console, i saw this:
" … Thread 0 Crashed:: Dispatch queue: com.apple.main-thread …
0 com.extensis.AutoActivationPlugin.PS11 …"
Though i deactivated the Plugin of Photoshop CS4 in Suitcase Fusion 3. Then, Photoshop will start again.
Hope, this would help you.
Regards
Alex
I just want to point out how very nice it is to type in an issue "photoshop cs4 crashes on startup 10.7" and get the perfect solution in about 3 seconds. I have been maintaining my office makes for about 22 years. I remember spending days trying to get to the bottom of issues... calling software companies then Apple and each blaming the other or me for the issue. Trust me...These are the good old days! Thanks!!!
Thank you, Dennis. Though I'm still using Suitcase 12.1.7 (haven't got around to updating; it's way too expensive) I did download the trial of Fusion 4 so the plug-in is still in the Photoshop folder. I appreciate your help. Now I can upgrade Lion. I'm puzzled as to why the plug-in is still there,, though. I would have expectred AppTrap to get rid of it when I threw out the expired trial. Next time something crashes on me I'll look at the crash report. Trouble is, my eyes tend to glaze the moment I start reading what looks like gobbledygook. :-)
labarker,
I'm glad you are finding some solutions to your problem. You might want to check if Suitcase 12.1.7 works with with mountian lion before you upgrade because this discussion is about problems with the lastest Lion upgrade.

Sorry, Dennis. I wasn't very clear. I meant upgrading to Lion 10.7.5 not upgrading to Mountain Lion. I am definitely not ready for Mountain Lion yet. I upgraded to Lion only because I needed some software that didn't work in Snow Leopard.
I originally bought Suitcase because it enabled me to use a particular Postscript Font that was incomplete. I don't know how it lost its mate; I was sure I'd backed up all the typefaces. Suitcase was cheaper at the time than rebuying. It isn't any more; I could get the typeface in open face version if I wanted to for a lot less than the price of Suitcase Fusion 4.
I'm surprised Suitcase 12 still works for me, to be honest. It doesn't have a plugin for Photoshop CS4. But having thrown out the plugin you said was the problem, I then activated this font and opened Photoshop to see if I could use it Yes I could. I then quit Suitcase and tried again, but the font wasn't available. So Suitcase 12 must still work in Photoshop CS4 despite the lack of a plugin. I'm puzzled! Must be missing something somewhere.
Hi I am having the same problem, trying to open Photoshop CS4 on iMac running OS X Lion 10.7.5 - but I don't use Extensis. Any ideas how I can combat this crash before opening issue? Many thanks

Here are some things I would check.
Checked the error logs in your Consule app?
Do you have any third party plugins running in photoshop cs4?
If so remove and see want happens.
Does all your other cs4 applications work correctly?
Hope this is a start.

Hi Dennis,
Maybe you know this one. Now that I have Photoshop CS4 working fine, an old problem popped up which I had fixed in 10.7.4, through these forums, but I cannot find the instructions. When I go to move layers it crashes Photoshop. I just lost an hour's work. There was an easy fix, either a key command or a preference but apparently undid itself when I went from 10.7.4 to 7.5. Do you know what that is? Adobe has nothing useful on this matter, just a bunch of griping. I know itr is archived here somewhere.
Thanks, DEE
Never mind... I found it in this discussion
https://discussions.apple.com/thread/4183994
The fix is to unclick 'automatic graphics switching" in System prefs Energy Saver. WOW!
DEE
dddd49,
Thank you for adding some more insight to some of photoshop cs4 issues with Mountian Lion.
Dennis
