Anyone still having IOS 6 wifi issues?

I'm currently waiting on Apple support to call me back about this issue, but I thought I would reach out here to see if anyone else is having similar issues.

I upgraded to IOS 6 yesterday afternoon, and immediately after I could no longer connect to the Wifi at my place of employment. Everyone had this issue, no big deal.

Went home, Wifi worked fine.

Came into work this morning and I am still unable to connect. I have tried all of the various recommended fixes, and even gone so far as to do a complete restore. I work at a university with multiple networks and access points and have tried connecting to several, both secure and unsecure, with no luck.

This is what happens:

Unsecure Networks: Attempt to connect, wheel spins, Error Message: "Unable to Connect"

Secure Network: Attempt to connect, prompted for password, enter password, Error Message: "Incorrect Password" (Yes I entered the correct password, I tried multiple times, and the IT tech was able to connect to it with his iPad 2 running IOS 5)

I am also not the only one, everyone on campus who has upgraded their iPad 3 to IOS 6 is unable to connect. (All staff/factulty have iPads, most have upgraded)

I have spoken with the IT department and they are baffled, they have tried rebooting various routers and access points to no avail.

Obviously there is something different happening in IOS 6 that is causing these issues. My question is has anyone else encoutered this issue, and if so what have you done to fix it?

I have seen people above who have upgraded firmware on their personal wireless routers with success, but for a university with literally hundress of access points and routers this is out of the question, at least in the short term.

Having problem with internet connectivity on WIFI - anything that depends on DNS for data whether it is a web browser or an app while using WIFI. I call this problem "WIFI Lockout".

This happens on iphone 4, ipad 2 and ipad 3 that has been updated to iOS 6.

I am not talking about the issue of the missing apple page (day 1) or the inability to turn on/configure WIFI after updating to iOS 6.

This is what i have discovered so far.

You could be in the middle of surfing or using any app that makes data calls based on DNS (when you type google.com that is translated in the background so your device knows where to go - summary only) and suddenly you can go no where or do nothing!

Sometimes conectivity goes trouble free for long periods, other times it is repetitive "WIFI Lockout".

Yea sure, you can restart the WIFI connection, but WHO wants to CONTINUALLY do that?

Interestingly enought the device is still successfully connected to the internet via WIFI, but DNS request fail to pass successfully from the iOS 6 device.

Apple (or any curious iOS 6 user that wants to see my point), when this happens "WIFI Lockout" open up a browser before you reset the WIFI connection and type type 74.125.227.144 (google) and then “go” (I tried both safari and chrome). A google search page will come up and you will be able to execute a search (of course any link you click on will not work as it is dependant on DNS resolution).

The above IP connection to google proves NON DNS traffic works, so the issue is not the WIFI hconnection to the access point that is the problem. It is not an access point configuration/firmware or security protocol issue either because data does pass when the above steps are followed.

I KNOW THIS IS NOT ALL OF THE PROBLEMS WITH iOS 6, BUT THIS IS A HUGE PROBLEM NOT BEING ABLE TO SURF OR GET DATA THE iOS 6 DEVICE IS REQUESTING WHILE ON WIFI.

yes, I am having IOS 6 problems as well. The WiFi option is greyed out and won't turn on. It was working fin before I updaed to IOS 6. I went to an Apple Store today and they mentioned that they had 10 people walk into the store earlier today with the exact same problem. None of these problems could be resolved and they replaced the phone if it was still under warranty or offered to charge $149 for an out of warranty replacement. I asked when Apple was going to acknowledge the problem and they mentioned that they didn't know if Apple ever would acknowledge that there was a problem. I mentioned that I would feel like an idiot paying $149 tonight for a replacement phone and than tomorrow they acknowledge that there is a problem. Wake up Apple, you are blemishing your image and I'm leaning towards not even having the phone replaced and going with an Android Phone. Nice wok Apple and I am very frustrated that this isn't being addressed in a timely manner!

Yes I've tried IOS 6.0 restore several times and no luck. I've reset all data. apple store did a DFU restore and nothing. apple employee mentioned that maybe a future update may fix this or I should buy a new phone :( They are blaming itin the mean time on a hardware failure! Tim Cook better be looking into this because this is worse than antanaegate!

I have a Verizon Iphone 4 16 gb with problem

Hi Everyone, I might of made an additional discovery.

The iphone 4s Wifi Connectivity Issue.

There might be co-oncident solutions to downgrade firmware on Netgear devices "possible", i connected to a Belkin WAP and was OK.

I have just compared 2 Iphone 4s Phones at work, my PA's Iphone 4s and my own Iphone 4s. both IOS6 Upgrade, my PA's work OK, mine doesnt.

This is the difference i found below

Model , ICCI, Modem which are located in Settings, General, About

These seems to make the Iphone 4s's and other devices "unique". It seems they all done have the same FIRMWARE etc based on the hardware components used to drive the Model, ICCI and Modem components on the phone.

I encourage everyone to make a comparison.

As downgrading formware on a Netgear shouldnt be a solution to this problem

What about other countless versions of WAP devices out there that we dont know which could have this problem ?

I dont believe its the phone companies - my iPad 3 64GB was purchased a few weeks ago with SIM unlocked and as I dont have a micro-SIM (although I do have a standard size Mobile Broadband SIM) I have never connected directly to a cellular network.

From my reading of several threads there still seems to be several possibly unlinked issues with WiFi.

1. iPhone 4 with Wifi Option 'greyed out' - seems Apple is replacing these handsets (under warranty or at a cost) as other threads state many Apple Stores consider this a HW issue.

2. Wifi active but not connecting. Symptoms seem to vary from very poor reception to pages simply not loading. There has also been discussion of web browsing working but Apps (including iTunes and App Store not working)

3. Wifi login not possible at locations requiring a homepage physical login - apple.com "success" page loads with failure message and router connection immediately drops - basically the device attampts to ping apple over the internet prior to the user establishing an internet connection by logging onto their carrier.

Two requests:

Add other problems if I've missed anything.

It would be good to know how many may be experiencing these problems - would it be rude to request a 'like' if you are experiencing either problem 2 or 3 above?

After upgrading iPad to ios6 my home wifi became very slow and sometimes couldn't connect to a page....maybe dropping packets.

This solution seems to be working for me for the past few hours:

Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings

Reboot system

Go to Settings>WiFi and select your wireless connection.

Hit the ">" symbol for that connection.

Then select "Auto" for HTTP Proxy and you should be good to go.

We have exactly the same issue at work (an open access, client walk-in office) with a Belkin router, model F5D8636-4 v2. I'm stuck for iPad iOS6 connectivity here, although for me the reverse to a lot of contributors' problems is true: work is the problem, whereas I'm absolutely fine with my NetGear router at home. I have forwarded a link to this thread to my AppleCare consultant, and I assume Apple will issue a patch - hopefully sooner rather than later.
