Anyone still having IOS 6 wifi issues?

I'm currently waiting on Apple support to call me back about this issue, but I thought I would reach out here to see if anyone else is having similar issues.

I upgraded to IOS 6 yesterday afternoon, and immediately after I could no longer connect to the Wifi at my place of employment. Everyone had this issue, no big deal.

Went home, Wifi worked fine.

Came into work this morning and I am still unable to connect. I have tried all of the various recommended fixes, and even gone so far as to do a complete restore. I work at a university with multiple networks and access points and have tried connecting to several, both secure and unsecure, with no luck.

This is what happens:

Unsecure Networks: Attempt to connect, wheel spins, Error Message: "Unable to Connect"

Secure Network: Attempt to connect, prompted for password, enter password, Error Message: "Incorrect Password" (Yes I entered the correct password, I tried multiple times, and the IT tech was able to connect to it with his iPad 2 running IOS 5)

I am also not the only one, everyone on campus who has upgraded their iPad 3 to IOS 6 is unable to connect. (All staff/factulty have iPads, most have upgraded)

I have spoken with the IT department and they are baffled, they have tried rebooting various routers and access points to no avail.

Obviously there is something different happening in IOS 6 that is causing these issues. My question is has anyone else encoutered this issue, and if so what have you done to fix it?

I have seen people above who have upgraded firmware on their personal wireless routers with success, but for a university with literally hundress of access points and routers this is out of the question, at least in the short term.

OMG, you sound like that dumb bimbo in that other thread. How about taking responsibility for your own actions, if you use cellular data YOU chose to use it.

If you send them an invoice, it won't make it go faster, they may just send you a reply that says

"Thank you for the additional toilet paper, but we don't give a sh__!

Here is a copy of our TOS/policy that you agreed to when you bought your device. You may want to read it this time."

oh wait, they probably won't send you a reply, because like I wrote, you agreed to their conditions and they don't give a sh**.

so instead of getting your panties all bunched up you can do what the rest of us is doing: wait for a update, or try to fix the issues ourselves instead of whining like whiny little b****es.

I don't think my panties are all bunched up although you sound like yours are...

You would actually be surprised if you read your terms and conditions as to what it covers. Apple have a duty as a supplier of the operating system to provide a functioning service. I am assuming by your response you are not educated in the rights of the consumer or grammar.

After upgrading both my ipad 3 to iOS 6, my wifi keeps dropping out/ hang. I then have to go to settings and turn wifi off and then on again before it works again. Then it will fail again after a while. I purchased the new iPhone 5 and the same thing is happening. This is a real nuisance and my wife is not impress with me for upgrading her ipad to iOS6.

I changed my wifi to apple airport express and that worked for a while but the issue seems to remain only with my wife's ipad 3.

Not very happy at the moment

No need to get abusive - we have enough problems trying to get some action out of Apple without fighting among ourselves. Besides, Scavanagh may have a point. The symbolic act of sending them a bill for our lost time and data charges might just make them start worrying about class actions etc and pull their corporate finger out.

I would be ok with waiting a week or two for them to get a fix out - I just want some official acknowledgement of the problem and that they are dealing with it. Meanwhile, we just keep screaming at them in the hope that they notice us.

I have been running a netgear WGT624 router fine with my iphones/ipad/ipod touch and it has been working fine until iOS6. As soon as my wife and I updated to iOS 6 the wifi will no longer connect. Wifi is not greyed out, it will see the network, but when the correct password is put in, it says "unable to connect to network". Seems that is may be an issue with the security encryption on the router, but again I refuse to go out and buy a new one because Apple's software isn't working correctly.

Given the very clear pattern of wifi failure across a wide variety of users, I'm convinced that IOS6 has a bug causing the wifi problems. I, like some, feel Apple will eventually get around to acknowledging the issue and produce a patch. I saw in today's news that Tim Cook openly apologized for errors in their new mobile map application. Hopefully, they will follow suite in the near future with a wifi fix.

Some users on this forum questioned the validity of Joe Fiction's statements regarding planned wifi actions by Apple. I'm not in a position to comment, since I don't know Joe, but I would like to know if Joe or others have received any additional responses from Apple employees that indicate a fix is being worked on. Apple certainly has plenty of data to work with, given the forum inputs of thousands of users around the world.

Maybe, it's time for us to give up our wifi addiction for a few days and chill out on the porch or couch! :)

Guys, I hope this will help some of you.

I had 2 iOS devices with my home WiFi which were not connecting since the latest iOS6 update, I tried all the resettings multiple restarts also manual settings in the DNS. While using manual seettings it connects with one devoce but the other one fails including my windows operating laptop. ...

Finally I selected 'forget this network' from all my devices including laptop. Turned all of them off. Turned the router/modem off. waited 10 seconds and turned the modem on first, then the laptop. Laptop searched the network and then joined it after providing the password (WPA Key). once the internet is activated in it, turned on the Ipad and searched for WiFi. provided the key when asked,.. Alaas.. it worked. then turned my iPhone on. dud the same.. Good God it worked again.. Now all my devices are working as normal..

It still may not work at your office or college where it used to work as the modem/router cannot be restarted there...:-/

brlawson, I had the same NetGear router and I had done all the resetting etc to no avail. I solved my problem with a router from a garage sale. BUT, I later thought of this to try - maybe it will help you. Instead of just unplugging the router, unplug it and push the reset botton on the router to bring it back to default condition. Then reconfigure like you did "in the beginning". Maybe it will work. I know the rest of these suggestions don't.

To me it looks like Apple is assuming that connecting to a wifi MEANS that you want to surf the web.

That's crazy.

I have a home wifi network AND an iSP with a captive portal who bills me by the hour when I go on the intenet.

Very often I connect to my wifi just to access my Nas or other devices at home.

Now every time I try to connect to my home network I get my ISP login page.

And if I cancel the login this uber-dumb iOS6 drops the connection with the access point as well/

Unbelievable!

Nope, the article references these discussions.

Speed test check the speed of the ISP, DNS is related to your provider. Routers not made by Apple, you may want to check for an update.

Wifi Setting -----> not using a Proxy set HTTP Proxy to off, this solves many Wifi user configuration problems.

CNet reviews had no report of issues related to iPhone5 or iOS6. Only issue was when Apple took down the captive portal site, issue dates back to 2011 and did not impact WPA from my memory.

CNET LABS can confirm that there is no issue, the reporter can confirm the sources by checking with CNET labs. There is no WiFI issue

4 what it's worth: I took my not-now-wifi-connecting iPad to the Apple Store Covent Garden (one of their 2 flagship London stores) and the so-called 'geniuses' all denied any knowledge of the problem; denied anyone else has the prblem; denied any of them has ever had the problem. I described this discussion thread and they claimed ignorance of that, too. Basically claimed the real issue for me is with the hardware, or with the software or maybe with me. Finally and after a great deal of persuading them (i.e. me describing the issue in a calm loud voice for all the shop to hear) they took the ****** object, removed all files/software and loaded new software and handed me back what had become, in effect, a brand new iPad. I'm starting again from scratch, but at least it now works. Like it did before iOS6.

So - my advice - take it back to where you bought it - if you can - and embarass them into correcting it for you.

This episode kind of takes the shine off Apple, doesn't it.
