Is iOS 6 draining iPhone 4 battery faster?

If you get an answer on how to revert back to iOS 5...let me know. My battery life stinks. thanks.

I guess most of us here have the facebook app or messanger. And the truth is - they are eating up battery power. I came home today with 69 % of battery. It was 7 hours ago. Now it has 35 %. And why? Because of checking notifications two times on fb and messenger notifications coming directly to my phone. I also used iMessage for about 10 minutes. Because it uses the Internet, battery is getting empty faster too, but not as fast as with fb or messanger.

I've seen lots of great "work arounds" but the basic issue is, the battery discharges faster now than it did before. This isn't the first OS update after a new modelwas introduced that did the same thing. That "issue" was never resolved and resulted in lots of upgrades to the new model.

I haven't changed my usage habits. I haven't done anything but updates. My battery shouldn't discharge that much differently than before.

Has apple joined in this discussion. (I tried to check but there are too many entries and/or my eyes missed it.)

I've seen many suggestions (turn off Bluetooth, stop using GMail, etc..) & tried them all. Nothing changes, the battery keeps discharging. I also haven't seen a response from Apple. I could care less about an apology. Either fix it or let me downgrade!

Don't force me to jailbreak. Don't want to but I can't have a battery go from 100% to 60% on my drive in to work!

Like others I've had the same drain issues, constantly plugging in to charge the phone. What worked for me was to take off Passbook , Map, and Facebook locations. Mail push was already off. It's now been 12 hours and I'm at 91% Yay!

You are pretty much not using your phone! I bet Apple has a better solution. Is not this true, Apple?

after setting the fetch data to of and all to manual load, it seems to be normal like bevore in ios5 where i had the same setting. I think that the battery is discharged still slightly stronger.

both my wife & my phones started having the problem - replaced both batteries - finally saw some posts after and went to the store - apple, who didn't have any iphone 5's for us to upgrade to ran diagnostics and basically said we neded to wait for the software update or buy a new phone. pathetic. today i just got an text from AT&T saying they are going to cap data usage because we've exceeded 3GB's this month - all due to the ios 6 update sending error reports or whatever else. apple - you should have fixed this already!!!

There is a solution to downgrade to the working IOS 5.1.1, but we are not allowed to post it here.

Sadly the highlevel users has gotten some info from Apple that a solution like that can not be posted.

The agreement we agreed to does not say anything about not being allowed to post a solution to the problem.

They also claim that Apple is not involved here, yet the downgrade solution is not allowed to be posted.

What Apple is scared of I don't know. Apple is not giving any of us any information regarding solutions or when an update to any of the many issues will be send out.

My battery life has been cut exactly in half since upgrading my 4S to iOS 6. I've had my 4S since shortly after it came out and my battery life has been very consistent with both iOS 4 and 5. In a typical day I used to use 40%. If I charged it overnight, it would be at 60% that night and 20% the next, and I'd either charge it overnight at around 20% or charge the next day at work when it got to zero. Since upgrading to iOS 6, I consistently go through 80% in one 24-hour period. I use it the same amount I always have. I have tried running it down to zero before charging, I then restored it, and I have again run it down to zero since restoring. Nothing has helped at all. Very disappointed. I've owned every iPhone since the original (as head of a family plan I was eligible every year for a discounted phone but they stopped that so I don't have a 5) and I've never had battery life change like this after an update. Very disappointed.

i feel you - i've been a huge apple fan, but after going to the apple store they told me i could either wait in line for an iphone 5 or buy an older version for 157 bucks. when i asked them if the replacement of what i have would work better they couldn't tell me. rather pathetic. oh, and now i'm getting text messages from at&t saying i've exceeded 3 GB of data usage this month - you should check your account because you are likely going to be hit with a huge bill as it passes data back and forth in the background with this error (which is why it appears to be loosing so much battery)

Just like the 3G/4.0 fiasco, offering a downgrade would be an admission things are not all rosey in Appleland.

I am seriously considering switching from Iphone to other phones. I am going to give a last try to downgrade to 5.1 (BTW, although a different subject, but I hated it very much the other day when the new iphone map app put me no where, after I started depending on it to get me to my desitination... I was visiting a friend and ended up very late because of the apple maps).

If the downgrade fails, this phone will be my last!

yes - in my latest woes - now my phone won't connect to our wifi network.

try an app called "WAZE" its a free GPS app that is pretty good - i switched over to that after gmaps left with the update.

i guess i'll try to downgrade, though it sounds like an aweful lot of work. would sure be easier if apple could get around to patching this for us all.
