Unfortunately, there is little to fare.iOS6 was done for ip 5 and with little regard to the previous models. My iPhone 4s with iOS6 consumes the battery very visibly. To save battery power do I disable almost all the functions of the terminal but then came a phone from € 30! The battery consumption is more than absurd with the use of 3G as Twitter. We have a phone unusable! Then the weirdest thing is the silence from Apple about the problem. I hope to solve with the next update, otherwise I will have to go to Samsung SIII with Android!

Hi All, restoring doesn't fix anything as it will restore all of the settings as well. Obviously there is something in the settings that causes the phone to continuously search for networks or 3G and also updates for any open apps, which is why the phone loses power so fast...
I tried "resetting" instead as one of the replies earlier recommended (Settings>General>Reset>Reset All Settings) and my iPhone4 is back to normal now, battery life is the same as before the ios6 update.
Of course, this will reset anything that you "set" on your phone, wallpapers, ringtones, alerts, alarms...etc. But your content (photos, music, emails...etc.) will still be there.
If you want, you can try to "reset network settings" instead and see if that works first.
My wife is on iphone4S, and my new iPad together went to ios6 with no issues, so I believe it must be something in the settings that is causing the power drain.
At least for now, until Apple officially figures out the cause and the cure, I have a functional phone with expected battery life.
Try it, I believe it should work for most of you out there with the same issues.
19 days ago I did a reset/ restore and the iphone 4S has been excellent. Battery life excellent.
I also switched off iCloud/ calendars/ notes/ email (I use the gmail app).
Today I thought things were going well and I miss the calendar so I switched it on and didn't give it a another thought for 2 hours. When I looked I'd lost 20% power in standby in under 2 hours again.
I turned all the iCloud sync off but I suspect it's still not as it was.
I downloaded from iTunes and had the battery issue for a few days until I fixed it (still not 100% sure what exactly fixed it). My wife downloaded it directly to her phone and never had the battery issue, actually saw improvement in battery life with iOS 6.
Good thinking, but I would guess that isn't the issue.
I as well did the restore to new phone. It reset all my settings which is okay, pretty new phone. It's a 4s by the way. Didn't fix any problems. I feel conlficted by trying to save battery life one must turne all "non-essential" features off. Isn't thisthe reason we all got an iPhone is to use it to it's fullest abiltites? One weird thing I have noticed and a member stated earlier on this thread I believe is that the phone, including mine, will stay at 100% for the longest time, but once it drops to 99% it's like it's in free fall from there on. It's crazy. I'm getting about 22 total hours of use while on standby for about 15 and usage was at 4-5 hourse with <45% left at the end of the day. I don't know the exact math, but it does seem like it's consistant with what apple states as the estimated battery life. 8hours of talk/3g internet usage. One is only going to get the best possible usage with very controlled settings and features.
I was having the same problem with the wifes 3GS, so i turned off icloud apart from documents and data and find my iphone app. It still drained the battery so i charged it again overnight so it was 100% then turned off in icloud again,find my iphone app. That was at 9:15 this morning now the phone is still showing 100% after a couple of text messages and its now coming up to midday. So looks like ive sorted it Happy days, hope this helps, kwak6
I also had a battery problem since upgraded to IOS 6. My New iPad was draining about 20% overnight on standby.
Since it was under warranty I took it back to Apple Store to fix.
First, they denied that IOS 6 can cause this kind of a problem, than they denied hearing about complaints in this issue at all. After they ran diagnostics and agreed that there is a software problem in battery management.
What is upsetting, that the so called professionals are so trigger happy in suggesting that the fix for all problems is the reset and restore the unit from backup. It is a massive inconvenience for the owner, as, there is a lot of work involved in restoring from backup. In-application purchases do not restore etc.
Worst of all is that after investing 6-8 hours of effective work I was back to square one because, it has done nothing to fix the problem. In any case after visiting a large number of Forums I realized that thousands are complaining about the so called "non-existing" problem.
Here is the fix: Settings/Privacy/Location Services. Turn off as many as you can. Most applications don't need to know where you are and they are the ones working in the background trying to establish your location.
More apps you have on your device more drain on the battery. I have over 200 apps on my iPad from which 35 was in location services. I switched most off, left only 11 on.
Since then my battery drained overnight only 2% instead of 20%.
I hope this experience helps others with fixing the "non-existing battery problem", and shame on Apple for being silent and not admitting to any of the problems with their system. Also, resetting should be the last resort, not the first one.
The latest month people has been frustrated with the lack of information from Apple. Users are getting more and more frustrated with there IOS 6 device not working to the standard of the IOS 5.1.1
Apple has appoligised about the lacking IOS, and more and more info is coming out to the public about just how badly the newest software has been tested.
I guess I should say lack of testing. It must have been rushed out the door, so they could match another phone on the marked.
Yet it is impossible to get any info from Apple, and all we can do is using the "black hole"

How can we feel appriciated by Apple, when they do not want to have a dialog with there consumers ?
Even the technical support people are getting frustrated as they get no information on what is going on eather.
Is it wrong of me to demand some information from a company who in a way downgraded my product with the faulty IOS 6 ?
Should I stay silent and just wait for Apple to see and realize that it was uterly wrong to rush this out to us ?
( I know I will now get attacked by Highlevel users on the forum. They will clame that it'a all working fine, even when apples ceo Tim cook came out applogising for ios 6 not working, and/or Apple will fix it and is doing everything they can to fix all the problems with ios6. How they know this I have no idea, as they all claim that they are not working for apple and that Apple is not looking in these discussions)
Ive had the same problem. Every since updtaing my iPhone 4 the battery just crashed. By noon it's dead without a charge. I went to the apple store and the genius said there wasn't a problem with IO6. He even suggested my problem was lint in my 30 pin adapter. I guess they are trying to get creative in trying to explain a real problem that doesnt exist based. He did tell me though that if my phone were still under warranty, he would have just repalced the phone becuase he couldnt identify any real reason for the battery drain.
I did fix the problem, and I believe I've isolated the issue (at least for my phone); however, it essentially makes my phone useless for me. I wiped the phone (twice actually) and everything would work fine, including apps. When I put my work email back on though, exchange email, it began to die again. So basically I can use my phone as a phone, and as an app machine; however, I can't use it for work email.
Becuase I use my phone for work, they even pay for my service, I'm basically stuck being plugged into an outlet all day. My contract is up in December - if Apple can fix the problem before then I'll probably upgrade to the 5 then. If they havent, then I'll be so fed up with my current iphone 4 that I'm going to switch to a droid.
Just been on the phone again with Apple they think I need a new phone and I have 3 options.
1 Send my phone away and should get a replacement in 5-7 days in the mean time no phone.
Not an option I need it for work
2 Charge me £600 and will send me one out in 3-5 days when they get my old phone I will be refunded.
I dont have £600
3 Travel 2 hours one way to Apple store where they can have a look at my phone and maybe issue a replacement.
I will have to go at a time and date that is convenient to them and travel for 4 hours.
In the past when I had a phone problem I would ring up my provider they would deal with the problem, I phone needed replacing they send out a replacemnt and old unit was sent back no need for £600 deposit.
I can buy a new phone for £250 and sell my faulty iOS 6 for the same money.
Apple You Are loosing the plot and customers with iOS 6
They tried that with me, and I told them why should I pay for a second iPhone when the first one was faulty? I ended up going back to the Apple store I bought mine from and they gave me a new one on the spot. All I can say is hang in there. There is a patch that is being worked on as we speak for IOS 6 although I have no idea when it will be coming out.
