How are you connecting, USB or Network, if Network, wireless or cabled.

I managed to get it working on my MacBook with Maverick , 10.9.

My problem was that I was unable to add the printer firmware after I removed it . It says on the HP website that you should go to the App store and update but there were no updates available.

My solution :

  1. Download this and install: http://support.apple.com/downloads/DL907/en_US/HPPrinterDriver2.16.1.dmg
  2. Restart your computer.
  3. Plug in the printer with the USB to your computer.
  4. Go to the Print & Scan.
  5. Click Options and Supplies...
  6. Go to Tools and Click HTML Config
  7. On the HP Printer webpage, go to the Networking tab
  8. Go to Wireless
  9. Under Communication Mode , select Infrastructure
  10. Select your network and enter your password (if you have one)
  11. Click Apply
  12. Close all windows except for the Print & Scan window and unplug the printer from your computer
  13. Highlight the printer in Print & Scan
  14. Click the - button to delete the printer
  15. Click the + button and select the printer in the list. Make sure that it says Bonjour under type.
  16. Click Add

Done!
