Apple Event: May 7th at 7 am PT
So as usual, I updated the software on My mac and laptop... it is version 10,6.8 and now my mail applications Version: 4.6 won't open. Says it is the wrong version to work with the software... this is the FIRST time I am unhappy with my Apple products. Now to take the time to figure this out. I know enough to be technologically dumb. Help

I totally just backed off, went to work today and came home and reread all you said
it is working on my laptop now, now to get it on my desktop

I think the "trick" to all of this (to avoid the trouble you had before) is to make sure all the Apple-installed Applications (especially Mail) are in the top-level /Applications folder when you go to do the secuity update.
If they have been moved somewhere else, they may get switched off.
I guess I didn't realize that moving them to the DOCK would cause this
I only have 200+ work related emails to deal with ..... thank you very very much
When you put an Application Icon on the Dock, that does not count as a "Move". The system creates an Alias (a pointer to the original) rather than actually moving the Application.
So "moving to the Dock" does not count as an actual move!
Updated software and mail doesn't work
