I want to be able to set Google maps as default to ALL my apps rather than Apple map because its map does not work in London. The train, tube, rail and bus stations do not show in a user friendly way. It has ruined many of my apps which need these sites to show accurate location, such as Rightmove, tube London, cycle hire, Time Out etc.

I need the option to use Google map as default. I was very surprised and then "upset" that Apple did not say before upgrading to IOS 6 that Google map would be replaced by one that only works in America. If I knew, I would never have downloaded it..

I'm purchasing a Google Nexus to replace one of my iPads. Everyone that I speak to at work is VERY disappointed with Apple and most are talking about switching to an Android. In fact, several that had been waiting for the new iPhone have already changed their minds and have gone with Android.

Tim Cook told everyone to look to other options and people are listening.

Apple will finally understand when the sales results for this quarter come in. Most likely , Apple sales down and Android up.

While it appears that the maps are far worse in Europe, the app is still pretty bad in the U.S. I can't get it to give me directions from my house to... anywhere at all. It acknowledges point A and point B independently, but will not give me directions between them. Useless. Calling on Apple to allow iOS 5.1.1 restore. An iPhone purchase is for the hardware and software, and it is not right (dare I say, illegal) to remove software from my phone with no remedy.

They did not remove any software. The same maps app is there just improved. The only thing that changed is what data the app uses for maps. Also you may want to recheck your TOS you accepted when you installed iOS6. I am willing to bet it is covered and not illegal.

Hi

Nobody reads the TOS unless your a lawyer and have got a couple of hour to spare, most people wouldn't understand them anyway. I don't.

They are always written in such away that it means they can do almost anything the company likes.

I.E subsection 867 paragraph 106 we can take Google Maps or any other good quality useful working App off your iPhone without giving you any notice or choice and give you a pre alpha half baked steaming pile as replacement that doesn't work in your county, which also stops some apps you may have purchased from working.

We also accept no reasonability if you get lost and can't find your way home, or if you miss your Flight as we've moved some of the Airports about a bit on our new Map App we force on you.

We now suggest you carry an A4 size Road Map with you at all times, so you can find all the mistakes for us and send them to us.

I'm finished with apple now there a complete joke.... I'm going to replace my iPhone with an Quad core S3 or something similar in the new year.

Also I expect to see lots of iPhone's going cheap on Ebay in the UK soon, now that you can't use / trust them for traveling around the UK.

Also canceled my order for an iPad with Father Christmas.

Well, if you want to split hairs and say it's the same app, and they just stripped it of the source data and search algorithms that made it function properly, then ok. I've seen it fail in ways that suggest otherwise, but that's not really my point. The point is that Apple diminished the intrinsic value of my phone.

I could be labeled an Apple Fan Boy, but I'm also NOT upgrading from my 4S because of this issue. I'm probably going with the Samsun Galaxy III. It's received great reviews and is on par with the iPhone 5. That's how much o want my Google maps back. The one thing that may Chang my mind is a Google Map App on the iPhone with ALL the features currently available on Android.

Right you are...there was a hole bunch of posts deleted just a 1/2 hour ago. two of mine. on two different boards/threads.

Guess they want to keep things on topic.

Funny because the only thing I can think of my posts as "slanderous" would be some links i added about what Google's up to with their maps platforms.

Quick count, there used to be 12 pages of replies, now there's 11.

I went the the Apple Store on Saturday and called Apple on Sunday since it was the last day of my AppleCare support agreement. I had some questions and also wanted to make sure they logged my complaints about the new Map app.

Yes, it seems nothing can be done except possibly buy a new iphone 4S which still has IOS 5 on it but they told me these would be gone very soon.

I was told by Apple that they do monitor these Forums and take note of what users are concerned about.

They also said that I could call anytime with complaints or worries such as with the new Maps app even without an AppleCare support agreement. They said all calls were logged and the concerns were read and taken note of.

Based upon what I was told by Apple I thing everyone should continue expressing their concerns here on the forums and also taking the time to call Apple and express their concerns.

It is a downgrade and its unbelievably big downgrade. Apple changed the working product with not working one. Maybe in USA it works fine, but in rest of the world it cant find streets its incorect. And now we have to wait untill it finaly become good product.
