I live in São Paulo, and I use public transportation. Without Google Maps on my iPhone I could never have found the right bus to go somewhere, now I am screwed with Apple Maps as it does not help me find the bus line as before with Google Maps, instead it directs me to the Apps store so I can buy an app which will supposedly help me do that.

Pathetic... If this is the way Apple is going to conduct business from now on, I am starting to look for Android alternatives.

I have laid this issue to rest. The Holiday season is upon us and it's all about the money. Apple is not stupid enough to allow this problem to persist. They will take a HUGE hit without the Street View feature and the original Google Maps app, not too mention You Tube. No one, I mean no one is buying a gift IPad for a friend or family member without these features. I am sure they have already seen a dip in sales and upgrading. I was planning on getting an IPad for my nieces and nephews. Now I am looking into the less expensive Samsung model

Hi

You can't Apple won't let you.

I have tried some of the alternatives and they are very poor when compared to Google Maps !

My street isn't shown on some of them and I live just outside a big city (Liverpool UK)

I think it's time to ditch the iPhone and go back to Android phones again.

There cheaper, Faster (Quad core) and most importantly you can put any App you want on them with no restrictions from Big Brother.

If my wife and I are out traveling and we need to look something up on a map, we have to use my old HTC Android phone (my wife now uses which still has Google Maps) as there's no info on Apple maps i.e buses.trains and street view etc.

Apple maps is Totally useless.

So, why did you buy an iPhone if the Android is so much better? No one here cares what you buy... please, go purchase an android and have fun with all their malware. 😉

BTW, it's they're, not there.

Hi Paul

I didn't know that Apple where this amateur and controlling until I got an iPhone, now I do and it's too late, I'm stuck with it. It was OK until I foolishly updated it to IOS 6.

IOS 5 did most things well. It did Google maps very well.

It's not just me, look at all the forum threads with people complaining about IOS 6 and Apple maps.

People are asking how can they roll-back to ISO 5 and guess Apple won't allow it.

The last 2 things I've tried to do on the iPhone is try to use the Apple Map App (waist of time) and get a Wi-Fi signal strength app so I can place my new router in the best place and direction in the house. Guess what the iPhone doesn't have any ? Apple won't allow them it banned and removed all the apps from the app store ? ***

I had to do both of these things with my wife's HTC android phone (my old phone) which I gave her when I got the iPhone.

I agree with what you said about the malware on android phones, and this was partly why I got an iPhone, but being careful and selective you can avoid it.

But this is the price you pay with an open free non restrictive OS like android.

I promise you, if you're in the UK the apple mapping app is even worst. In satellite view we sometimes get hi-res views in shades of grey, in other parts of the country there simply are none.

Apple are being extremely childish in clearing out google based apps from their device, they should stick to what they do best and just produce expensive hardware every few months that their fans will queue up to "upgrade" to - that is surely where the money is for them.

I want to be able to set Google maps as default to ALL my apps rather than Apple map because its map does not work in London. The train, tube, rail and bus stations do not show in a user friendly way. It has ruined many of my apps which need these sites to show accurate location, such as Rightmove, tube London, cycle hire, Time Out etc.

I need the option to use Google map as default. I was very surprised and then "upset" that Apple did not say before upgrading to IOS 6 that Google map would be replaced by one that only works in America. If I knew, I would never have downloaded it..
