I'm not giving up on Apple Maps.

If Apple want to build a viable alternate and decent competition for Google - great.

To Apple : Just don't pay for your mistakes by helping to break my business, and expect locked in users to crowd source the data as a possible (but flawed) escape route out of an incomplete and buggy Beta application.

The web based version of Google Maps is not at all integrated and won't work for many of the complainants, nor will any 3rd party app.

Apple must now allow a return path to iOS 5.1.1 for those for whom a fully integrated and functional Map application is vital, and that way Apple can continue to develop Apple Maps without the distraction of all the noise and anger Apple has created.

If they don't do this fast - then the Apple will begin rotting - fast.

RIP Steve Jobs, I hope you can't see what's being done in your name.

The only real difference I've noticed in the new OS is that the maps don't work. Going back to OS5 wouldn't be a downgrade, it would restore something that worked quite well. Are you guys saying I should help Apple refine their product, and pay them for the priviledge of doing so? Are you saying I should quit griping about losing something I had (and paid for) and used and liked? Something that's been replaced with something I can't use, don't like, and still get to pay for? I don't get that.

Install one of the many apps, quit griping, help Apple out... It worked and now it doesn't.

The reasons don't really matter. People paid a lot of money to have these apps and now they have systematically removed them. If you bought a car with a Bose stereo and leather seats, and 4 months later the car dealership sent a guy out to install a cheaper radio and cloth seats, and called it an upgrade would you care what the reasoning behind it was? It's criminal. Plain and simple.

To me, the answer is a simple one.

Apple needs to swallow its pride and re-instate google maps, even if it is an interim measure. Yes an apology is fine, but actions speak louder etc.

I have read some of the contributions to this thread and to make any sort of excuse for the Apple map is crass. It is an inferior product and it IS a downgrade - sorry.

Fortunately I haven't "upgraded" my ipad to iOS6 so I can still have googlemaps on that.

It is a stupid, greedy gaff by Apple and if they don't sort it - I (and I suspect millions of others) will change to another phone.

Nuff said really!

Try Streetdirectory.com App for Asia Maps

http://itunes.apple.com/sg/app/singapore-maps/id388128906?mt=8

Streetdirectory.com. Maps comes with business directory, all types of tranport mode. You simply specify from point A to b and they tell you how much it cost to take a cab or tube or bus. You can click on the bus stop icon and they tell u when is the next bus arrival time coming.

Comes with all types of tranport mode. You simply specify your start and end and they tell you how much it cost to take a cab or tube (mrt) or bus. You can click on the bus stop icon and they tell u when is the next bus arrival time coming. The maps are extremely detail. Unfortunately, its only good for asia.
