With respect that's not actually going to help me now..

All many of us need is the ability to restore iOS5.1.1 and get on with our lives...

This can happen whilst Apple work hard and do all they need to to make their new Map toy more than just a basic Beta app with a few pretty pictures in limited locations..

When it finally 'works' - they can release it in the App store first to see if people like it as much as they think they will...

Only then would I suggest Apple make it part of the firmware without a way back for those who are being badly impacted by this poor decision...

Instead of moaning about the app why don't you all feedback your concerns to Apple to help them rectify this minor issue and help them make the maps app better so we all can start to use it again like we want/need to. Apple have admitted its not the best maps app out there (see link below). I can't actually believe that businesses have come to a stand still just because Apple have changed from Google Maps to Apple Maps. I run my own business and yes we loved Google maps but there are plenty of ways around this, all of my hardware and software is manufactured by Apple and yes it was a problem for my company for probably less than an hour before we all got our heads together and came up with a solution until Apple sort the maps problem out. None of us have had problems with the turn by turn navigation as this is run separately by Tom Tom Navigation. Within the Apple maps app you can report your problems/concerns/issues etc so let's all do this, stop repeating what everyone else is already saying about the app and help Apple help us make our personal and business lives a lot easier like they already have done for many years.

If you think I'm going to let my staff or me waste our time populating Apple's map data to correct Apple's mistakes - then you clearly don't understand business.

Oh, and we've already spent all week "feeding back" into Apple by phone, email, stores - you name it we tried it.

Same old record - you're here now - tough.

Arrogance.

Yes our rural business has actually been crippled by this change - the only saving grace being a couple of iPads we didn't upgrade... but when you keep getting the Apple nag screen to upgrade, it's hard to stop people pushing the button.

I could take my time to explain why we've been hit so hard as a business - but the simple reason is we went from an integrated Map app that worked to one that doesn't.

There are no ways to replace the integration of Calendar Contacts and Maps without replacing the firmware version of Maps itself.

Easiest way? Apple just reopens the signing window for those who wish to go back to IOS 5.1.1

Our likely method now - given Apple's arrogant attitude? - change over to Android.

The cost of £35,000 to replace all our kit is hard - but better than watching the business get into more difficulty.

We contacted our IT supplier today for lead times.

We'd get a better Map application too and increased customisation - unavailable on Apple.

Sadly I think this is the time when Apple will lose A LOT of customers

With all due respect, I understand business very well considering my business consultancy company has not made a loss since starting up in 2005 and as we are in and out of a recession, I still haven't made any losses unlike yourself at this present time, maybe you should come up with a contigency plan like every other half decent company has, maybe you would not be in the situation you are in now if you had already. Just a thought. As we are here in the Apple discussion/communitiy lets not argue about clearly who's business is making more money then who's. This is not the issue.

I do understand your concerns as not even 7 days ago I was in the same boat as you but as I previously mentioned we come together as a team and came up with a temporay solution.

Apple's iOS6 hasn't even been released to the public for 7 days yet, and you all are really thinking Apple is going to come up with a fix as quick as that? Surely, they are going to be making sure that the updated app is and will be error free as they do not want any more bad publicity.

And if you actually think Apple will respond to your complaint personally, think again. I'm pretty sure Apple are working round the clock to rectify this, so ask yourself this. Apple to spend all their time replying to each indiviual complaint or spend all their time into rectifying this issue? I know which one I would prefer.

Birdie 2607, until Apple's epic map disaster we've not made a loss either - but now we are at risk of that.

We had trusted a platform that has now failed - for reason beyond our control.

You make some assumptions here that are incorrect - I'm not trading insults - not my style.

We will have a workable solution next week - but it's not Apple.

We are likely to swap out all our gear to another platform.

We just did not expect Apple to make such a poor product and worse, prevent us from going back.

The quick fix is Apple re-opening signing of iOS5.1.1 to allow those of us who want to to revert to the old firmware. Simple and not too difficult if Tim Cook decrees it.

If they don't do that - we're gone from Apple as customers - probably for good.

If you realy want to go back to IOS5.1.1 then you can restore in itunes if you have a backup with IOS5.1.1

I also find it very hard to understand why a company would upgrade all their hardware at once without first testing just a few first.

I have my own buisness with a mixture of hardware, I have upgraded one device to IOS6 - so far no problems at all.

As buisness people we should always plan and also take advise before making changes that can affect the buisness.

We all love Google Maps it seems clear, nothing can replace that app (as of now). Apple & Google are going thru a divorce and it get's ugly when that happens, even in the Tech World 😟.

Btw, the iPhone still has Google Maps but without streetview - admittedly not the best but atleast..."something".

Google has years on them but let's not give up on Apple Maps, which is very likely to improve and even as I type there are people working on it.

In the meantime, you may wish to read below article for more insight what's the latest in the Map World:-
