Instead of moaning about how cr*p Apple Maps is, why don't all its users help Apple by reporting these issues in stead of coming on here to sl*g them off! Remember Apple built this App from the ground up, they couldn't use Google Maps images or streetview images due to copyright issues, if you remeber back when Google released their Maps application it wasn't as half as good as it is now! Apple make some of the worlds greatest products and software, just because they messed up on one app, that half the population probably don't even use, they are the worlds worst company!

I am not going to ungrade to OS6 until the maps app has been improved or Google maps becomes available as an app. Though I also have Navigon, Navigon is a battery hog where as Google maps isn't. Google maps is too indispensible to give up easily. Walking directions and public transit directions I use all the time. Can't get that with the Apple maps app. A work in progress is not something I want to BETA test when I am lost and need reliable directions.

I am not upgrading either. I am really annoyed with apple on this one. I was turning into a pretty happy and loyal apple customer, just bought my wife an ipad also. But this has definitely flipped me back around to being wary of apple. Way to greedy. Give you customers what they want, and we want our google maps back, and not as a separate web app or native app, we want the option for google to be the core maps app.

Using Google Maps through Safari is not a solution. I downloaded Google Earth, but it goes through the website to get directions. I guess I'll have to either get a Android phone or just do all my directions before I leave home or have they blocked access to Google Maps from there as well?

Anyone know if you jailbreak the phone can you add Google Maps? I've never done that before, but I don't like being set the wrong way down a one way street. Google's be perfectly their software for years, did they really think they'd be able to come up with a better one if a few months?

Apple is getting more and more like Microsoft everyday.

Say what you want, it's a downgrade. I've been a loyal Apple customer since 1984 and this is the first time I've felt the need to complain in as many ways as I can. I assumed I would be able to download Google Maps as an App as I was able to do before I had an iPhone. I wish I could roll it back because Google Maps was something I used almost every day and now it's just gone and I'm left to go back to paper maps. I have no interest in beta testing software for Apple. I want the one that works!

Hundreds and thousands of users complaining and some stupid fanboys on these threads still trying to justify this crappy product from an increasingly crappy company that expects us customers to beta test their product and provide crowd sourced data for the next few years so that they can catch up with Google. All this, while we customers who have paid for this, suffer wasted time and money using Goifle Maps through the browser or worse, ending up at the wrong places using Apple's crappy product.

They obviously have a license to use Google Maps on their IOS5 app, so why on earth dont they do the right thing and give us a simple, one click option to get the old App back?

These guys are proving to be worse than Microsoft, when it was at its worst... A condescending statement from the company on this issue and nothing else - no apology, no solution, no nothing...

Bottom line, unlikely to get the maps app back. Apple has committed too many resources to this project, and their ego isn't about to let them backdown. Wonder why no official comment from the company?

You are better off lobbying Google to write the app. At least they have some upside, but it is likely Apple would stick it to them with the same haughty attitude they displayed after prevailing over Samsung.

Bottom line, Apple screwed up but is going to jam it down our throats anyway.

I've looked into all the alternatives posted on this thread and the best option is to create a desktop link to the web version. If you go to Google Maps in Safari it will direct you how to do this. This version does not have all the bells and whitsles of the integrated app, but at least it's better than Apple maps. It will get you where you're going.

If you use Apple Maps you will be giving Apple the data they are counting on to make money from ad revenue or other location specfic income streams. I will be boycotting Apple Maps from this day forward. I don't know what to do about other apps defaulting to Apple Maps. I guess I'll have to live without that convenience until an App is available or Apple allows a rollback of iOS 6.
