I have the same problem. Went through every option in settings to try and clear it. no luck.
I have the same issue, and on top of that, my battery is being drained like there's no tomorrow. I am using and iPhone 4.
So i restored and it's still there, what's the next move apple....
I wish I could go back to 5.1.1 but even in DFU mode and the 5.1.1 ipsw file I still can't do it.
Same issue, I updated from an iphone 4 with 5.1.1
Anybody get this fixed yet?
On iOS 6 with new iPhone 5. Restored from iPhone 4 to keep pictures, contacts, etc. now have settings badge. Any help Apple?
Same problem here. Just received the iPhone 5 and restored it from a previous backup. The red "1" badge is showing for the settings app but there is nothing that needs updating. This was a problem for me with IOS 5 too. Can someone from Apple please address this and provide a fix?
I just purchased a new iPhone 4S from Sprint which has iOS 6.0 ... and, unfortunately the annoying little red (1) on the Settings icon.
Short of resetting everything I just set up and restoring as a new phone (I'm not comfortable using iCloud yet I guess), is there anything else I can do?
Jodi-
I encountered this problem today. I then click into "Purchased".
From the list of apps, find those with "UPDATE" and click on them.
Bingo !

Same here.. Any Help?
I would try to hard reset (pushing the home and the power button at the same time) for about 20 seconds, make sure you are not connected to anything.
If that doesnt work reset all settings (settings>general>reset>reset all settings)
You may have to restore your device, first creating a back up (HT1766)
then restore (HT1414)
same problem here... i've trying anything but no solution. help please!
I've got the same problem. If I restore from my backup the badge is there, setting my iPhone as a new one removes it.
Anyone found a solution ? Im also experiencing this, everytime I restore from my icloud or itunes backup, the badge shows right up, Im on 6.0.2 (ip5)
