Why cant I send pics since the ios 6 upgrade? Any clues on a fix?

Since the upgrade No one in the house has been able to send photos.

I have researched and found that you could attempt to "reset" the network settings - THIS DID NOT WORK for us! (but feel free to try it)

Also we tried the basic, shut down the phone for 2 minutes method - THIS DID NOT WORK for us! (but feel free to try it)

I am so at my wits end I could SCREAM!

Apple is supposed to be the WORLDS BEST! Then they bring out THIS kind of TRASH?!? Really? Siriously? (yes - that was a total BLAST at Apple)

I enjoy using my camera but LOVE being able to send the pictuers to ppl in the family when I take them... as does everyone else in the household.

I'd appreciate if anyone had any clues on a avenue I have NOT attempted please let me know.

Thanks every so much!

jocasta-

below is a copy of another discussion that I started on the forums, hoping to get some answers; because I had been in discussion earlier that same morning with several other ppl from the forum and was told by them that if I gave in "detail" my problems and concerns about my phones there were many people with experience who might be able to help... as of this very moment in time the discussion thread has only been "viewed" and no one has offered to help! 😟

I sure hope that someone who was viewing was a engineer from Apple and they are taking some of the concerns I had into account. As well as those expressed by others on the threads. Sure doesn't seem like any of this wasted talk space is doing any body any good... Just maybe giving someone "rant" space and freedom to speak their mind [well kind of].

smh

I give! I'm done Good luck y'all! Wave good-bye!

All of this was after talking to 2 different Apple techs; restoring both phones, trying every thing there is possible on the phones.

I have toggled every switch there is until my screen is about to crack! Used every combination of settings in attempts to thwart the compatibility issue, to no avail.

Someone, if your out there and have any ideas... Please, please.. Help!

WIle troubleshooting this issue, I found a curious thing:

updated a 3Gs to iOS6. I turned off the cellular radio so that only wifi is enabled. We have wifi at home using Comcast and we could not send pics using mms. I also have a mifi 4g card through Verizon. We switched the iPhone to use the mifi and mms worked! I don't think it is a carrier issue per se, but there must be something with the cellular vs cable?

I've been following and participating in a few other forums regarding this issue over the weekend. Here is one solution that came up on another forum regarding this issue.

(It looks as if the issue may have to do with certain newer(?) Comcast gateways and how they are interacting with IOS 6.)

THe following was posted by another user trying to resolve their picture-sending issues:

"Well I spent a hours on the phone with Apple care and the guy submitted a ticket to the higher ups. Nothing ever came of that though. I figure that the iphone 5 has to be sending pics/videos through a different port or with added security and the xfinity gateway blocks it.
I called Comcast yesterday and the rep was trying to turn my gateway into just a modem, but it wouldn't listen to her commands. I decided that it's not worth the hassle and am returning the gateway to comcast. I went out and bought a stand alone comcast modem for $99 at best buy, but if you don't want to do that, you could always just exchange the gateway for a separate modem and router at the comcast office. My parents have comcast and they rent their modem and router from comcast, but the router is netgear and is a separate unit.
So my current set up is a comcast cable modem: Motorola Surfboard docsis 3.0 high-speed cable modem and an older b/g netgear router that I had in the closet. Everything works great and my iMessage can now send photos and videos with no issues. The Xfinity gateway is the issue, at least for me it was."

I'm guessing that this may be the issue that quite a few of us are experiencing.

I think it's in Apple's hands now to interop test this specific Comcast equipment and find a way to make the two work.

The other option is to pay for/provide external wi-fi routers for everyone effected, but we know that won't happen...

I can confirm this issue with at least one data point! I had a xfinity gateway and just switched it out with a Motorola cable modem. We are now able to send pics through iMessage.

I experienced a very similar problem with an iPhone 4S with IOS 6. I think tjperez123 highlights an important nuance. There was an old APN profile on the phone for a Nielsen Panel app that is no longer in use. When I deleted this APN profile not only could I once again send MMS pictures, but I received a flood in texts that came over the weekend, but never came through.

I was having the same trouble with a 4S after upgrading to 6.0, that is, I was unable to send camera shots in a message, always got the undelivered red icon. Tried everything, restore, network reset. I am on Viaero and you have to enter your APN settings manually and I had reset and retyped them numerous times. I finally added a port number behind my proxy server address like users of other brands of phones have to do (and myself apparently) and it worked. I have never had to do that before with iphones but that fixed the problem for me. Proxy address 10.168.3.23:9401 works for Viaero. This may be something that is plaguing others after the update of the IOS. Obviously, these settings will not work for others unless your on Viaero but it may send you in the right direction.

Hello,

I've just managed to solve this problem in my case, after a day of trying the obvious settings. It's basically the same as prtruss.

In my case I'm an AT&T subscriber.

I have a 2009 iPhone 3GS (model number A1303). Refer http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3939

Firstly I went into Settings -> General -> Reset and tapped Reset Network Settings. This rebooted my phone. That did not fix my problem immediately, but I mention it because it was part of the sequence which led to my phone being able to send & receive pictures.

I then went into Settings -> General and noticed there was an APN entry at the bottom. Tapping that it referred to AT&T and was in red -- my recollection is that it was not verified.

The only option I was given was to delete it. I chose to delete it.

Within about a minute my phone received about ten photo's that had been backlogged and I successfully sent a photo.

My Settings -> Cellular options are all on (Cellular Data, Enable 3G, Data Roaming).

Also, I have had an ongoing problem with voice mail -- the voice mail indicator never came on. That just started working.

To be sure I turned my phone on and off, and tried send a couple of photo's. It did not work. Then after about two minutes it started working again.

I'd say there are possibly a few different reasons why this problem occurs, and it may be intermittent.

I hope this helps.
