Lightning cable USB connector stuck!

I plugged my lightning usb cable into my apple wired keyboard, and after a while tried to remove it.

It was stuck, no matter how I tried to (carefully) pull the cable and hold the keyboard.

After about 30mins trying, I shoved some thin cardboard in between the bottom of the usb connector and the slot in the keyboard, it helped to remove it.

On closer inspection after I had the cable out, I noticed that the indents in the bottom usb connector are deeper than many of the other usb (apple and non-apple) connectors that I have.

A warning to others out there!

Just experianced this with my cable too, in my laptop, the tip is too lift gently up and down to release, seems the socket gets locked into position. Really bad design. Looks like apple will be supplying these one after another. Not good.

Bought a new Lexus CT200h which has a built in USB port, and plug in the iPhone5 cable and like everyone else it go stuck.

Used a plastic collar stay (from a dress shirt) to slip in between the plug and port to get it out safely.

Talked to AppleCare, first rep was unhelpful and didn't even understand the issue. Second, supervisor rep was helpful and will escalate the issue to the design team. Hopefully, we'll get a "fixed" replacement soon.

Gor my iphone 5 2 days ago. First day i ended up breaking the usb port my work laptop becuase cable woundlt come out.

Then at home i reluctantly plugged it into my desktop computer and voila, its stuck there too. No way was i going to rip that port out. Called Apple, spoke to a rep who said they will send me a replacement cable and put a $31 hold my card till i send the old cable back. So im like OK? should i just cut the cable and send it back as im not going to have rip another usb port. I got put on a hold then i guess a senior afvisor came on the phone(sounded liked a much younger kid than the first rep). He said he will send me a new cable without requiring sending the old one back. Well thats good of Apple, Thanks but it still ***** to have gone through this mess.

Apple should do a redesign and swap cables for everyone before more people start breaking their computers.

yesterday i got the new cable they sent me so i try plugging that into my laptop and it got stuck. so i take it out and then drive to the apple store and then talk to them they never heard of the problem but they swapped the cable and try the cable in the macs at the store and then try it in the usb slot in my car it works fine, but when i get home i try it in my acer and it still gets stuck. so i give up for now until they recall this ****** thing.

Hi guys. I don't think you realise you can all ask for another 10

Cables but until apple officially come out and hold there hands up and say yep we have f'ed up with the USB end of the cable.

You can keep purchasing another cable from apple they are all the same. The cable isn't a one off end. There all the same. Guys I think the best thing is.

Wait for the none genuine cables try will be perfect. I have 3 x apple cables all the same.

After reading all the comments, I feel better that it wasn't just me. As of now, my USB is stuck in my computer and no amount of pulling or wiggling is getting it out and I'm afraid if I pull too hard that it will break, and my laptop is fairly new. Apple, please fix this problem. The Iphone 5 is my first Iphone and everything was going great until this happened.

I too had my USB Lightning cable stuck in my new Infiniti G37xS. Luckily, I went to the dealer and showed them that neither I nor my husband could pull it out. They finally got it out, but with great difficulty. They replaced the car's USB port, assuming it was an Infiniti part problem.. as did I. A week later I plugged it into my office desktop PC computer and couldn't remove it at the end of the day. Finally my office manager dissasembled the computer enough that I took the entire USB port and stuck cable into my apple store today. They had not seen this problem, but the genius gave me a new cord without any problem, and suggested strongly that I post the problem on the community board so that Apple would know about the problem. I will use the two prong electric outlet from now on and not try any other USB's until they replace these cords. I have two now, plus the one dangling from my computer USB that I carry around to amuse people who cannot believe my problem. Now that I have found this thread I feel a bit better that I am not crazy! Thanks for all the moral support!

We tried the plastic collar stay suggestion and after some manipulation and several tries, it worked! Thanks for offering this tip! Now the question will be, where is it safe to use this lightening cable. We just ordered http://Dual USB Car DC Charger Double Power Adapter for New iPhone 5 /iPad2/3 White ( 190725968208 ) and hope it works with the cord that was getting stuck. I will just leave it in my car and not try to move it anywhere.

My lightenting cable to usb got stuck in my gateway laptop. took forver to get it out with much frustration. called apple care and i believe they are replacing it for me. since i don't live near apple store the process of doing it over the phone/mail is quite frustrating. first they put a hold on my mastercard for 21$ which is the cost of a new lighteing cable, second the claim number they gave doesn't work.
