Magic Mouse not "right clicking" after 10.7.5

Apple is telling me that they can not reproduce the issue.

Perhaps this may be hardware platform related, I'm giving them more info on my iMac.

Wonder if there is any way to link these bug reports together to show that it's not a one-off problem.

I wonder what the conditions are they are trying to reproduce the issue?

Are they just using their own copy of Lion and doing a clean install or are they going the Snow Leopard then App Store verison of Lion?

When I was talking to support I mentioned this discussion forum and related other people were having problems. When I was contacted by Apple Support I had the impression they had other reports of the mouse issue.

I would be surprised if it was some type of hardware related problem as it seems to affect newer MacPros that can be updated to Mountain Lion and older ones like mine that cannot.

It is also interesting to me to see the USB Overdrive software does work. If there is no solution from Apple I guess I will have to pay for the shareware, it seems silly that an entire operating system costs me only $15 but a fix for the mouse is $20

I finally contacted Apple Support. The rep I spoke with suggested that 10.7.5 didn't have the driver(s) necessary for supporting my older Apple mouse (Model No. A1152). I mentioned that the mouse works fine on Snow Leopard (10.6) and that others on this forum have reported their mice working fine on Mountain Lion (10.8) but not on 10.7.5.

Nonetheless, I told the rep I wasn't expecting an answer at this point, but just wanted to make sure the problem is logged. As a few other posters have suggested, if you're having the problem, report it to Apple. The squeaky wheel gets the grease!

The last post on this thread is now nearly 2 weeks old - did anyone find a solution to this? I just ran into the same problem, after booting from the recovery drive and reinstalling MacOS 10.7.5. This would tend to support the faulty-driver-in-Apple-store hypothesis.

I have a USB Mighty Mouse (A1197). Same result with another A1197 I brought from work.

I am still awaiting a response from Apple support.

I have an open case with them and each time this thread is updated with new information I send an email to the rep but it's been since November 1 that I have heard from them, they don't even acknowledge receipt of the emails I have sent them.

I am using the USB overdrive mouse but that is not the point, if 10.7.5 is missing a mouse driver than it is possible it is missing something else as well.

I won't feel confident until they either release an update to fix the mouse or post 10.7.4 on the app store and then go the software upgrade route to get to 7.5 as this seems to have worked for others.

Same problem here - on 3 completely different computers - 2 updating to Lion, and 1 updating to Mountain Lion!

Bought a brand new Apple Mouse to test - still has the error.

Apple got me to run an app to then send them a file showing the computers system/settings. It is now an esculated issue and I was told "we may bring our a system update to solve the problem".

Having the same issue myself when I updated my 2,1 MacPro to Lion. What a ridiculous problem to be having. Apple, you never cease to amaze me.

Just an update if you are using USB overdrive with a procedure that is working for me.

I have installed the USB overdrive and I programmed it this way:

Left Button Click Mouse Button Click Type: Click

Right Button Click Mouse Button Click Type: Right Click

Middle Button Click Mouse Button Click Type: Button 3 Click

Button 4 Click Mouse Button Click Type: Button 4 Click

I can then program the middle button to Dashboard and button 4 to Mission Control using System Preferences\Mouse, I was able to program the middle and button 4 to any of the options they have associated using System Preferences\Mouse.

Appears to me the System Preferences\Mouse settings are being accomplished using the USB shareware driver.

Today I made a clean install of my iMac.

Unfortunately I lost half a day by figuring out the already mentioned problem.

When I discovered this topic I tried the USB Overdrive method .. and it works.

However, and this is already mentioned in the other topic too, I can't uninstall the program because the problem will come back.

So now I'll get every day a startup message which asks for payment.

But I think I refuse because I already bought a f****** mouse which should work properly!

I also had to raise the speed but that works fine though.

I'm also on version 10.7.5. and I have an USB Mighty Mouse.

Won't update to Mountain Lion because I use a lot of vst plug-ins with Logic Pro which aren't compatible yet.

The strange thing is, I did a clean install 2.5 months ago and also made an upgrade from 10.7.4. to 10.7.5. but till today I had no mouse issues.

By the way, when I upgraded for the first time to 10.7.5. there were also major issues with plug-in validation (solved).

So my question to Apple is > "why?!" 😠

I'm having the same problem. I'm using an A1152 mouse and have tried 2 others.

Wiped the hard drive and installed Snow Leopard. Mouse worked so I upgraded to 10.7.5 and the issue returned.

APPLE HELP!

Just thought I would add my name to the list of frustrated Apple fans that are having mighty mouse problems. I have a 2x2.66 ghz MacPro, last possible MacPro that doesn't support 64 bit so while I was waiting for the latest OS to jump from Snow Leopard to Mountain Lion I found out my MacPro won't support Mountain Lion because of 64 bit. I went down to the Apple Store and purchased an install disk for Lion and came home and installed happily. Then mouse stopped right clicking. So I went to the Apple store and ignorantly bought a new USB mighty mouse. Unfortunately that didn't right click either. Clean installs... New Mighty Mouse... Time Machine back-ups... blah blah blah... All the same steps everyone has tried here and POW BANG BOOM... Nothing...

I had the same problem after performing a clean install of Lion.

(Mighty Mouse was working fine after updating from Tiger and so on)

After moving /System/Libraries/Extensions/AppleHIDMouse.kext to the dustbin and rebooting, everything works fine.

Functions working.

Mouse prefpane incorrectly display Mighty Mouse, but that's nothing.

Thanks Barthmr, its partially working for me.

I no longer see the mouse diagram and the programmable button options but it is working with what I had tried to program before removing the AppleHIDMouse.kext to the trash.
